07:47:40 <AdrienM> BZ works fine requesting a login if you try to browse with Firefox on MacOS, no timeout.
07:47:56 <AdrienM> The Wiki returns 404.

10:46:18 <FortunoX> Hello and good day. I'm currently looking for an alternative to Lexware FinanzManager and came across GnuCash, which I find very interesting. Since some links on the site (e.g., links to the wiki?) lead to a 404 error page, I'd like to ask if this is just a temporary issue or if GnuCash is no longer being maintained? Thank you!

10:50:54 <warlord> @tell Sherlock what URL are you trying to go to for the logs?
10:50:54 <gncbot> warlord: The operation succeeded.
10:51:19 <warlord> AdrienM, yes, wiki is still disabled.
10:52:36 <warlord> FortunoX, the wiki is current disabled due to AI/Bot overload bringing the whole server down.
10:52:43 <warlord> The gnucash project is going strong otherwise.
10:55:32 <FortunoX> Ok, thank you very much for the quick info, then I will try to get into GnuCash :-)
10:56:38 <warlord> I just put an index.html into place so going to wiki.gnucash.org won't return a 404, but a short message saying the wiki has been disabled.

11:20:04 <warlord> ... I also put a similar index.php so anyone hitting an existing wiki link will also get a similar message
11:20:13 <warlord> (and it'll stop logging errors about script-not-found)
11:20:51 <warlord> I wonder if we could put an .htaccess with a username/password that is "well known" in front of the wiki -- would that stop the bots?

13:16:03 <Simon> you could try reducing the maximum number of concurrent requests?
13:16:17 <Simon> does mediawiki have options for making history only available to logged in users?
13:43:36 *** Sherlock has quit IRC
15:51:52 <warlord> Simon, I tried; that did not suffice.
15:52:16 <warlord> and AFAIK, there is no way to limit it that way. MAYBE there is?
15:52:58 <warlord> But my idea was to put the wiki behind a password-protected htaccess -- we could tell humans the password, and my thought would be that AI/bots wouldn't know to look for the "password du jour"

16:55:17 <Sherlock> I’m still blocked. Could it be the use of IPv4?
16:55:17 <gncbot> Sherlock: Sent 6 hours and 4 minutes ago: <warlord> what URL are you trying to go to for the logs?
16:56:36 <Sherlock> warlord, https://code.gnucash.org/logs/2025/08/30.html
17:01:13 <warlord> Sherlock, that link comes up for me immediately. No issues.
17:01:37 <warlord> v4 vs v6 shouldn't matter... Unless you tried to SSH to the server and got your IP blocked
17:01:50 <warlord> What happens when you try to go there?
17:02:40 <Sherlock> % curl https://code.gnucash.org/logs/2025/08/30.html
17:02:40 <Sherlock> curl: (7) Failed to connect to code.gnucash.org port 443 after 105 ms: Couldn't connect to server
17:02:40 <Sherlock> % nslookup code.gnucash.org
17:02:40 <Sherlock> Server: 192.168.50.1
17:02:40 <Sherlock> Address: 192.168.50.1#53

17:02:40 <Sherlock> Name: code.gnucash.org
17:02:40 <Sherlock> Address: 204.107.200.65
17:04:12 <warlord> That's the correct IP.
17:04:21 <warlord> What do you get if you traceroute or MTR there?
17:04:36 <warlord> And what is YOUR (externa) IP address?
17:11:13 <Sherlock> traceroute produced 29 hops to code.gnucash.org 104.518 ms current external IP 76.133.250.206
17:24:23 <warlord> 29 hops? Seriously? That's a lot!
17:25:07 <warlord> Sherlock, looks like you got yourself banned by fail2ban..
17:25:36 <warlord> On 8/27, apache-auth
17:28:43 <warlord> Sherlock, it means you tried to authenticate to something and it failed.. This happened on the 27th..
17:28:50 <warlord> I will unban you, but don't do it again! :)
17:29:51 <warlord> You have been un-banned
17:31:51 <Sherlock> warlord, I don't remember any failed authentications, but there were significant hangs... Thanks.
17:32:14 <warlord> you're welcome.

21:53:29 <chris> CDB-Man: we can certainly add a job-id in the AR/AP report. we need to bear in mind the mapping 1 job = many invoices
21:53:29 <gncbot> chris: Sent 6 days, 4 hours, and 41 minutes ago: <CDB-Man> -- the multicolumn balanse sheet, if there are too many year columns, to seems that it makes the coluimn witdh for the 1st column with the account names very narrow, and this causes rows to be very tall
21:53:30 <gncbot> chris: Sent 6 days, 4 hours, and 38 minutes ago: <CDB-Man> I'm not seeing issues with teh multicolumn income statment. it seems only the balance sheet
21:53:31 <gncbot> chris: Sent 6 days, 4 hours, and 37 minutes ago: <CDB-Man> it may also be affected by the width of the data columns, as if I turn off display fx rates, then the data columsn get narrower, the entire table is less wide, the and wrapping behaviour is a bit better
21:53:32 <gncbot> chris: Sent 6 days, 4 hours, and 32 minutes ago: <CDB-Man> perhaps the min width styling for the account name column needs to be higher, maybe 15 or 20% of screen width?
21:53:33 <gncbot> chris: Sent 6 days, 4 hours, and 32 minutes ago: <CDB-Man> I am using technicolor on all my reports
21:53:34 <gncbot> chris: Sent 5 days, 19 hours, and 46 minutes ago: <CDB-Man> for the customer AR report, is it possible to add a column for job JD and job name?
23:19:56 <chris> CDB-Man: I'd suggest the Job column to be a formatted string "{job_ID} {job_name}"
