Configuration Location Diagram beakouts added 27/02/2019 DaveC49

rsbrux I'm afraid I don't understand your issue, can you elaborate please ? Which files are installed where and where did you expect them or how do the descriptions not match with your findings ? Perhaps a concrete example can help.

Thanks for responding. In retrospect, I probably failed to understand the distinctions between the installation directories and the configuration directories, so I have deleted my comment above. I was also misinformed in the Gnucash user mailing list <gnucash-user@gnucash.org> about the appropriate location for custom-user.scm. What may still need some attention here is the disagreement with https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Environment_Variables on the correct naming of the corresponding environment variables.

Sorry, but I am still at a loss. Based on advice given under "Potential loss of settings" on the "flatpak" page (https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Flatpak), I would like to backup the configuration, preferences and settings of my current system-wide flatpak installation, but I only find such information here on the per-user installation. I have looked in what I would expect to be the location in a system-wide flatpak installation (/var/lib/flatpak/app/org.gnucash.GnuCash/current/active/) without finding the corresponding subdirectories or files (e.g. settings or keyfile), nor do I find them in ~HOME/.var/app/org.gnucash.GnuCash/ of an account which has run GnuCash. Where can I find the files I need to backup? --rsbrux - GC 4.11 / Ubuntu Studio 22.04 LTS x64 (talk) 15:53, 17 July 2023 (UTC) Rsbrux, we don't use the wiki talk pages for support requests. Ask on gnucash-user or IRC. John Ralls (talk) 02:30, 18 July 2023 (UTC)

Please excuse my rant. I did in fact ultimately find what I wanted in the location specified in this topic, ~HOME/.var/app/org.gnucash.GnuCash/config/glib-2.0/settings/keyfile. I am aware of the mailing list and very grateful for the excellent support you provide there. I was confused by the information (or lack thereof) on the Backup page, so I have added a reference to this topic for finding Gsettings in flatpak installations.
