10:36:22 <Robert847> I think there is a problem with release 5.16. I don't think that it is saving log files in the correct folder. I have been saving backups many trimes this morning, including multiple quits to update the GCM file, but there is no log file newer than 6/30/2026 3:01. I hope that I am wrong.
10:40:50 <warlord> Robert847, log files should be saved in the same folder as the data file.
10:40:54 <warlord> no?
10:40:59 <Robert847> Additionally, Replay logs seems to be looking at the folder where the #2 previous file was saved instead of the current file is located
10:41:34 <Robert847> Yes, but something is not right
10:42:24 <Robert847> I am using Windows file manager and not finding them there
10:45:10 <Robert847> File explorer. The folder listed for #2 is on a USB key that is not even available
10:50:52 <Robert847> All of the reconciliations done this morning have disappeared from the file in the folder listed as #1 and there are no log files to replay
10:54:51 <warlord> Are you sure you opened and were using the file you thought you were using?
11:04:27 <Robert847> Actually, no. That is why I was using Windows filee explorer to be sure thaqt I had the correct[?] file
11:08:10 <warlord> Well, that could explain why you couldn't find the logs/backups -- if you had a different file opened.
11:12:35 <Robert847> There is more to this mystery. I need to check a couple of things
11:43:48 <Robert847> Ok. One problem is that I have been saving the GnuCash data file to the wrong folder after buying my new computer. Two, File Explorer was showing the oldest log file at the top of the list. There is a log file with a date 7/8/2026 9:13. Three, Replay Logs is not choosing the correct folder which contains thee currently open file. Four, I have not figured out why this mornings reconciliations suddenly disappeared after repeated sav
11:43:48 <Robert847> es and quits.
11:50:01 <Robert847> There is also a backup file with a timestamp 7/8/2026 8:53 so I can make a copy of that to see if it has this mornings' reconciliations
12:07:41 <warlord> Interesting.
12:13:34 <Robert847> Aha! When I put a copy of that last backup into the folder which I should have been using and opened it, this mornings' reconciliations have re-appeared. However, Replay Logs now seems to still be looking at the folder which is now #3 in the history list. This needs more testing.
12:15:39 <Robert847> At least most of the errors have been resolved satisfactorily
12:27:11 <Robert847> I am now a happy camper. If there really is a problem with Release 5.16 looking in the wrong place for Replay Logs, I can create a bug report. I will wait for a while to see if anyone here has better information to put into the report.
12:32:10 <warlord> Maybe jralls knows, but I don't think that code got touched.
