I have downloaded release 5.16 for Windows and I am running it on a new computer in Windows 11 Home Edition. Unfortunately, it is still crashing very frequently, and I cannot find a way to get it to shut down completely before closing, so I am constantly "opening anyway". Is there a way to force it to close cleanly with

19:53:09 <jralls> So try moving your GnuCash file to H and see if that works better. It might not, you have a history of messed up files so there might be a problem with it. You could try exporting your transactions, accounts, and prices to CSV and reimporting into a new file.
19:55:04 <jralls> The magnetic material is iron oxide, better known as rust. Solid state drives have no moving parts so they're immune to head crashes and don't care if they're dropped. They're also about 10x faster.
19:59:56 <jralls> The USB is just the connection. An internal SSD on your bus will be quite a bit faster than one connected through USB 3.1, but harder to move to another computer.

It is possible that I have ccidentally purchased a counterfeit drive or two, since I sometimes buy them on sale at Best Buy. Micro Center is not nearby.

20:07:19 <jralls> Best Buy should be as safe as Micro Center, they're both big companies that will deal directly with the manufacturer. Just make sure to by from one of the well-known manufacturers like Samsung, WD, Micron, etc.
