14:53:44 <Yazinator> I've followed the instructions and don't find the file there, empty or otherwise. The backstory: I was using gnucash on the Fedora Asahi side of my mac. My toddler son sat on my computer and cracked the screen. I haven't been able to access the Fedora Asahi side (due to incompatibility with external monitor). I don't know if I had GnuCash open or not at the time of the incident. Could the file be corrupted if it w

14:59:27 <jralls> Your file is unlikely to have been corrupted, though you might have lost some work done since the last save. The trace file records logging messages in the current GnuCash run and on everything except Microsoft Windows is overwritten every time you start GnuCash.
15:02:06 <jralls> The tracefile is also written to the temp directory and that gets emptied every time you reboot. That's likely why you can't find it.

16:21:26 <jralls> If the system crashes there's not likely to be anything GnuCash would have logged that would be useful. The tracefile is sometimes useful, particularly with added logging enabled, when GnuCash crashes or otherwise misbehaves.
