07:16:51 <bauen1> jralls: lovely :)
07:17:21 <bauen1> I guess my next step should be annoying aqbanking a little bit about one or two bugs / lack of parsing when fetching investment accounts / MT535
07:18:15 <bauen1> gnucash doesn't support the GetDepot thingy yet, but it does support the GetDepotBalance call - so then I should be able to retrieve the depot balance without magic stuff ...
07:18:26 <bauen1> I guess GetDepot was never implemented due to lack of interest ?
07:19:04 <bauen1> Having to make a new sub account for every individual share, makes sense, but it also a bit annoying to deal with, and I guess that doesn't mash too well with the way aqbanking returns securities either ...
07:24:45 <bauen1> oh, and something else mostly unrelated that's bothered me, but what is the hostname to use for IRC ... that also validates for TLS ? Because irc.gimp.net (listed on the wiki) is a CNAME to irc.gimp.org, which will throw you into one of ~3 servers that all have individual TLS certificates for their hostname ... but not for irc.gimp.org
07:26:30 <warlord> bauen1, we don't run the IRC network; you would need to ask the operators (maybe on #opers?)
07:27:42 <warlord> As for the stock/account question -- GnuCash has ALWAYS had a "account per commodity" architecture.. For over 30 years. That's not going to change any time soon.
07:28:22 <bauen1> warlord: yeah, I've never heard of the gimp irc network before gnucash, was a bit surprised it isn't on libera or something like that, and I'll head over there. I guess you just ignore the TLS errors ?
07:29:03 <warlord> Yeah, I ignore them.
07:29:22 <bauen1> warlord: yeah, I know that won't change, and I don't really think it's bad per-se, especially from an architectural view point, I think I mainly take issue with the user interface / user experience, but let's see how I will fare over the next few weeks
07:29:31 <warlord> Gimp.NET and GNOME.Net were "the same" network back in the day. Then there was a split and "Gnome" moved over to libera, but we stayed here.
07:29:56 <bauen1> actually, let me rephrase that, I think the "account per commodity" is a good architecture design decision (especially) for the backend
07:30:28 <warlord> bauen1, from a user PoV, it follows the way a brokerage account is displayed. When I login to mine, it shows me how much I have of each investment. This is 100% the same way GnuCash models it.
07:30:30 <bauen1> warlord: interesting bit of internet history
07:30:56 <warlord> That's relatively recent history, maybe in the past decade-ish
07:34:24 <bauen1> warlord: yes, I think what I'm looking for is the combined account view or something like that
07:35:29 <bauen1> warlord: anyway, the thing I was concerned about is how aqbanking returns securities for the investment account (in other words treating it as one) and I'm not sure if that will make importing difficult ...
07:35:39 <bauen1> let's see if I get around to looking into that

21:26:54 <CDB-Man> @tell chris thanks. I was travelling for work all week, hopefully either this weekend or next weekend I will have the chance to test
