02:05:27 <jralls> warlord, I had trouble resetting my Ovirt password and although it said I was eventually successful it now says that I'm locked out.

07:55:51 <fell> jralls, https://github.com/Gnucash/gnucash-docs/pull/350 seems OK to me. Perhaps warrel could add a note like "CSV is using in logical fields the abbreviation of english YES instad of german JA.
07:59:13 <fell> I am currenly excluded by github's 2FA requirement. My mobile was killed by corona measures.
08:01:56 <fell> Finally I have eye problems (Cataract) which restricts my working time.
08:02:16 <warlord> jralls, whoa.. I had no idea that it would even lock out an account!! Let me look into that.
08:02:34 <warlord> fell, ouch! I'm sorry to hear about that.
08:05:40 <fell> The ophthalmologist could fix it, but general practitioner has to give his OK. But for him my smoker's lung is a problem.
08:07:31 <warlord> I never knew that lungs had anything to do with eyes? ;)

11:01:13 <jralls> warlord, it's OK now. I waited an hour and tried again.
11:01:55 <jralls> As for fell's GP I imagine he's worried about the general anesthesia.

14:57:52 <jralls> chf in https://bugs.gnucash.org/show_bug.cgi?id=799580 somebody complained that GnuCash still uses SFr. as the default display symbol for Swiss Franc. Do you have an opinion on the matter?
16:29:16 <chf> "CHF" are just my initials, I'm german, jralls, but I do have an opinion nonetheless. The official abbreviation in Switzerland itsself is "Fr." for german laguage, snd "fr." in the romanic languages. To distinguish the swiss from other francs, either "SFr." for "Schweizer Franken", or CHF (the ISO abbreviation) is used. I think there is nothing wrong with both.
16:30:11 <chf> "FrS." ("Franc Suisse") is also used in french.
16:34:23 <chf> "CH" means "CONFOEDERATIO HELVETICA" (latin for "Swiss Federation"). This is often preferred, but not mandatory, I think.
16:35:36 <chf> "Confederation"…
16:42:12 <chf> I don't consider this to be an error; example: EUR is used in the configuration for accounts, and the symbol "€" elsewhere, BUT it's language dependent. French speaking people would not use "SFr.", but "FrS." instead.

16:44:57 <chf> So, if Gnucash uses the same symbols for a currency in every language, I'd indeed use "CHF" everywhere, in order to not "prefer" one language over the others.

17:51:35 <CDB-Man> I see when you use the loan and mortgage tool, it inserts a scheduled transaction with formulas instead of values, formulas being pmt, ppmt, ipmt. is there also a power formula, and can I next the power formula within the pmt formula? https://bugs.gnucash.org/show_bug.cgi?id=799582 -- if not, I will manually put in a lot more decimals

18:57:59 <jralls> chf, Yes, I know that you're not Swiss, but you have a good perspective on such things and you're here. Thanks.

19:25:41 <chf> I'm always happy to help, if I can, jralls (within time constraints). About Switzerland: what people prefer is probably a matter of taste. Someone using it with only one currency could prefer the common abbreviations ("fr." for LANG=fr_CH or it_CH, "Fr." for de_CH), without the "S", as you see on price tags in Switzerland. If that's impossible to do (e.g. the symbol won't change with LANG), "CHF" is the best choice, beca
19:25:42 <chf> the number: "Fr. 33", for example.
19:46:04 <chf> Since I'm on the german language mailing list, I've decided to ask actual swiss franc users there, I'll report back in case someone answers, jralls. There are quite a few people with .ch addresses.
