05:40:37 <shahnanigans> Hello folks. I installed gnucash on windows and want to use it with postgresql on a remote server, that I run on an ubuntu server in a docker container. The postgres server is started with LANG: de_DE.utf8, LC_COLLATE: de_DE.utf8 and LC_CTYPE: de_DE.utf8 because I need the database to be german. Now, when I connect to the database an the tables are created I want to delete unused accounts. That's when I get the following
05:40:38 <shahnanigans> error Message where "doppelter Schlüsselwert verletzt" means "duplicate key violates":
05:41:07 <shahnanigans> postgres | 2025-02-27 21:12:49.050 UTC [180] FEHLER: doppelter Schlüsselwert verletzt Unique-Constraint »accounts_pkey«
05:41:07 <shahnanigans> postgres | 2025-02-27 21:12:49.050 UTC [180] DETAIL: Schlüssel »(guid)=(1176bec1f965409189cc8fdd40ffd89c)« existiert bereits.
05:41:07 <shahnanigans> postgres | 2025-02-27 21:12:49.050 UTC [180] ANWEISUNG: INSERT INTO accounts(guid,name,account_type,commodity_guid,commodity_scu,non_std_scu,parent_guid,code,description,hidden,placeholder) VALUES('1176bec1f965409189cc8fdd40ffd89c','Zeitungen','EXPENSE','6202d53b67354e819f49f51772202d2e',100,0,'b85654986a174b8197763c51ac9dfc08','','Zeitungen',0,0)
05:42:16 <shahnanigans> In consequence I cannot save any changes to the database.
05:42:44 <shahnanigans> I would be glad if anyone had an idea how to tackle this. Thank you very much!

06:12:21 <strk> ouch, sounds like GnuCash is trying to create the database schema again ?
06:12:21 <gncbot> strk: Sent 3 weeks, 2 days, 12 hours, and 20 minutes ago: <warlord> the transaction description is hard-coded, but you can certainly get the Txn memo (double-line-mode) and the split memo (journal-mode/show-splits) from the invoice.

06:13:31 <strk> warlord: thanks, show-splits does work for me (assuming gncbot will let you know)
06:13:53 <shahnanigans> That would nothing I could influence by any different configuration then, right?
06:15:00 <strk> wiping out the database, after taking a backup ?
06:15:24 <strk> note I'm not a GNUCash developer so take what I say with a lot of salt (not just a grain)
06:15:29 <shahnanigans> it is a freshly created database so there is no use to having a backup
06:15:43 <strk> I'm using the XML format so don't have any direct experience with the PostgreSQL backend
06:15:56 <strk> ok fresh db is good
06:16:37 <strk> "I want to delete unused accounts" <-- is something you do from the UI and is what triggers the error ?
06:16:53 <strk> I'd file a ticket if that's the case
06:17:11 <shahnanigans> yes from the ui. where would I file a ticket?
06:21:24 <strk> I'd start from the url in this room topic
06:23:39 <shahnanigans> bugzilla then?
06:25:52 <strk> sorry I can't guide you more - I don't know either, and I'm already evaluating alternatives ...
06:26:00 <strk> specifically: https://plaintextaccounting.org/
06:26:27 <strk> but if website says bugzilla then it must be bugzilla
06:26:37 <shahnanigans> thanks
09:46:18 <TigerP> strk: if you want the bot to mention something to warlord, you should use "tell warlord ...." (AFAIK)
10:24:15 <strk> I'm importing CSV, reading https://lists.gnucash.org/docs/C/gnucash-manual/trans-import.html#trans-import-csv
10:24:46 <strk> gncbot: tell warlord - thanks, show-splits does work for me
10:24:46 <gncbot> strk: The operation succeeded.
10:25:25 <strk> what I see on import from CSV is a pair of red records, the "action" columns are: N, A+C, C
10:25:49 <strk> but the https://lists.gnucash.org/docs/C/gnucash-manual/trans-import.html#trans-import-csv documents A, U+C, C
10:26:08 <strk> is it a translation issue ? Also why is it lists.gnucash.org ? I'm afraid I'm reading the wrong doc ?
10:27:59 <strk> is the owner/manager of gnucash.org domain in this room ?
10:37:46 <shahnanigans> who is warlord?
11:49:48 <TigerP> https://www.gnucash.org/docs/v5/C/gnucash-manual/trans-import.html
11:50:44 <TigerP> the action columns are probably a translation issue, if you are not using the English version
11:53:02 <TigerP> if you are importing a CSV and there are no transactions that could match the import, you will probably see red, because the importer will try to match imported transactions with transactions already in gnucash
