04:23:45 <Diaeresis> Hi! I was wondering if anyone could confirm that the stock split action is actually working in the latest release (Flatpak in particular)? I am trying to perform a split, but hitting the finish button proves inutile and does nothing besides disabling the button itself and I am at a loss how to work around that.
04:50:08 <Diaeresis> Okay, I built the latest commit on the stable branch and it works there, that already gets me somewhere!
05:26:24 <Diaeresis> Doing it for another split and it's got the same issue again...something odd is going on there

16:16:08 <jralls> Diaeresis Are you using the split assistant or the stock transaction assistant and what exactly is going wrong? I just tried the split assistant and it worked as expected.
16:24:07 <Diaeresis> My issue occurs with the split assistant. I just tried it again and it is not working for me. My steps are as follows: I am in the stock account of the stock I wish to split. I click actions->split assistant and the window opens. I click next, select the stock I wish to split, click next. In the details I enter just the date and 16 for shares. Afterwards I click finish and apply.
16:24:35 <Diaeresis> The button grays out, no transaction is created and no disk activity occurs indicating that nothing was done

17:54:29 <jralls> Diaeresis, The steps you describe indicate the split assistant, though its menu item is Actions>Stock Split. It's working fine for me. When you click Apply the button shouldn't gray out, the dialog should disappear.
17:54:40 <jralls> What backend are you using?
17:57:23 *** ChanServ sets mode: +v Diaeresis
17:58:07 <Diaeresis> Yeah I am not using the English locale so I am doing a bit of guesswork at what the menu items are called, I hope it isn't creating too much confusion! I am using the sqlite3 backend
18:05:04 <jralls> Diaeresis, I think I found the problem by accident: I happened to test it on a book with two accounts holding a stock. The splits appeared in the other one. Might that apply to your situation?
18:09:14 <Diaeresis> I can rule this possibility out
18:10:56 <jralls> Then I don't know. Can you create the transaction manually? Just enter the date, description, and number of shares with no price or value.
18:14:28 <Diaeresis> Yesterday I made the transaction using the stock assistant as a workaround which is OK. It does not let me enter a change in shares without entering any value in the account menu itself, I was thinking this is possibly intended though
18:30:33 <jralls> chris intends the stock assistant to replace the split assistant. To enter the stock split directly in the register without any value either leave the transfer account blank or use "-- Stock Split --" translated in your locale's language. You can look at other stock split transactions to get the exact wording and spacing.
18:31:33 <jralls> Anyway, gtg. Sorry I couldn't help.
18:37:42 <Diaeresis> Thanks for taking the time!
