09:47:39 <Antisoche> jralls: Yes, that was the context I was asking. It's not relevant though. Quote::Finance lost the ability to get data from Yahoo in Ubuntu LTS and I thought he might be having the same issue. It appears not.

13:06:17 <jralls> englishman, An idea for a work-around: sudo ln -s /System/Library/Perl/Extras/5.34/* /Library/Perl/5.34
13:08:35 <jralls> englishman and sudo ln -s /System/Library/Perl/Extras/5.34/darwin-thread-multi-2level/* /Library/Perl/5.34/darwin-thread-multi-2level/
13:10:46 <jralls> englishman You'll get some errors for directories that already exist in the targets, but maybe you'll get enough to get networking working.
13:16:12 <jralls> Antisoche, Finance::Quote's development lives at https://github.com/finance-quote/finance-quote. I don't know offhand what is Ubuntu's policy for updating perl modules in apt, but YahooJSON is enough of a moving target that you pretty much always need the latest (currently 1.61 though Bruce has a 1.62 beta available to install, see https://lists.gnucash.org/pipermail/gnucash-user/2024-April/111704.html.

13:47:59 <jralls> englishman, what's you're macOS version? Please paste the output of `perl -V`. I'm trying to figure out how your @INC could have been borked.
14:00:28 <jralls> s/you're/your/
14:35:34 <Antisoche> jralls: Thanks for the background. I don't have an issue with it.
19:03:28 <englishman> https://www.irccloud.com/pastebin/wKpsAnHW
19:03:47 <englishman> jralls: 14.4.1, perl -V above.
19:04:45 <englishman> jralls: it might seem dumb, but how do I uninstall f::q now that it’s been force-installed? gnc-fq-update sees it installs and does nothing.
19:04:53 <englishman> *installed
19:24:13 <jralls> englishman: sudo rm -rf /Library/Perl/5.34/Finance
19:25:52 <englishman> thanks.
19:28:53 <englishman> and after making the symlinks, run the installer again without PERL5LIB= ?
19:33:35 <jralls> Right. But I think a better place to put the symlinks is /Library/Perl/Updates/5.34.1. There's only a couple of unimportant things there so there's a much lower risk of collisions.
19:35:01 <jralls> Oh, wait, no, no need to remove and reinstall. Just make the symlinks and try getting quotes from GnuCash launched from Finder.
19:35:19 <jralls> I gotta go make dinner now and I'll be afk tomorrow.
19:35:26 *** jralls is now known as jralls_afk
19:38:20 <englishman> no such luck; error regarding missing LWP::Protocol::https module
