17:06:41 <CDB-Man> https://code.gnucash.org/builds/win32/ -- I haven't seen a new nightly here in quite some time -- did the publishing spot change?
17:09:31 <CDB-Man> https://code.gnucash.org/builds/win32/stable/ -- I usually get nightlies from here, but the last publish was before new year's
17:21:41 <jralls> CDB-Man, the Win32 build has been broken since a couple of days before the 5.5 release because of a WebKitGtk Javascript crash that I'm still trying to fix 2 months later.
17:22:19 <CDB-Man> hmm. the 5.5 stable on sourceforce is still safe to install then?
17:26:56 <jralls> If you don't use graphical reports, customer/vendor reports, or scheduled transactions that need input in the SLR, yes.
17:28:42 <CDB-Man> SLR?
17:29:18 <CDB-Man> I use several of the visual graphs like the net equity graph, and several customer reports, so sounds like I should stick with my old nightly
17:30:09 <jralls> Since-last-run dialog. Yes, it does sound like that.
17:31:36 <CDB-Man> I definitely use stuff that generate since late run lialogues (scheduled transactions, AP/AR invoices)
17:31:45 <CDB-Man> re-installing my old nightly then
17:31:52 <CDB-Man> gnucash-5.4-2023-12-13-git-5.4-156-g273c961fc4+.setup.exe
17:38:28 <CDB-Man> jralls: is the webkitgtk issue local to gnucash, or does it have an upstream dependency? (meaning you're at the mercy of someone else)
17:47:18 <jralls> Well, it's complicated. WebKitGtk dropped Windows support in 2016. The Mingw64 maintainer stopped updating it about a year later, and I've been updating it since to keep it building as its dependencies changed.
18:13:42 <CDB-Man> Unfortunate but nonetheless a common issue in open source... Is the long term plan to continue maintaining gtk, or to break the dependency eventually?
18:14:51 <jralls> Long term we need to replace it because we'll have to migrate to Gtk4 (or something else) and that old version of WebKitGtk supports only Gtk2 and 3.
18:15:17 <jralls> Bob Fewell has put up a couple of experimental PRs along that line.
18:16:30 <CDB-Man> In this context, I take it to mean PRs in Gnucash to move our dependency
18:18:24 <jralls> Yes. https://github.com/Gnucash/gnucash/pull/1868 and https://github.com/Gnucash/gnucash/pull/1849.
