08:59:42 <main> Hi
08:59:54 <main> Will Gnucash work with Swedish small business accounting?
09:11:23 <warlord> Define "work with"?
09:12:05 <warlord> GnuCash is just an accounting program. It is generic. It does not have locale-specific rules (although there are locale-specific donated account hierarchies to help get you started)
09:19:52 <main> Well, I have never done any kind of budgeting or accounting. I'm one of those "take it as it comes" kind of guy who lives from day to day. But, I've found myself in a situation where I had to start my own company and want to know if Gnucash will be sufficient for me.
09:22:42 <warlord> GnuCash will not hand-hold you through it; if you understand what you need to account for, and how you need to account for it, GnuCash will let you enter your data and report it back to you.
09:22:57 <warlord> But it's not going to tell you "hey, you need to account for that receipt as Groceries vs Supplies"
09:36:50 <main> Yeah I figured as much. I'm currently self-hosting Invoiceninja v5 and thought that would all I need. But I realized it will only handle the invoicing part and not bookkeeping.
09:37:37 <main> Maybe this is the wrong place to ask, but is there some other bookeeping tool that can be self-hosted besides Gnucash?
09:39:44 <warlord> No idea.
09:40:02 <warlord> I've been using GnuCash for personal and (small) business for.... almost 20 years.

10:22:04 <markspace> main, i used to own/operate a small restaurant, and with gnucash I was able to manage all the books required for that, for prepping for taxes, and even for managing employee compensation with tips... I was able to enter that in to a template and calculate their wages.
10:26:51 <markspace> it was all 'manual'... and I loved it.

12:26:01 <jralls> fell, there's a wiki account request for David Knelsen with a cursory reason in German so I left it for you to adjudicate.
12:32:45 <fell> No English understanding and bad German writing. ;-)

20:33:39 <fell> jralls,I got reports that aqbanking is not found underwindows in the recent release: https://lists.gnucash.org/pipermail/gnucash-de/2023-December/012988.html
20:36:36 <fell> Former aqhbci-tool4 is now named aqhbci-tool4.exe and returns "libxmlsec1.dll not found"
20:38:56 <fell> and the new aqbanking-config has in line 2 a nonexistant directory
22:41:08 <jralls> fell, that's been mentioned on the user list several times. I think it's because libraries were out of sync when I built it. I'm still trying to figure out the webkitgtk bug that crashes javascript. There's not much point in doing a rebuild until that's sorted out.
