07:27:28 <Kaligula> Does anyone have an idea how to fit a photo session (e.g. child photo session etc., with a professional photographer) in the Expense category tree? :|
07:27:50 <Kaligula> I know we have different trees, but I'm looking for ideas.

07:53:22 <hades> Kaligula: I'd put it under children > (name), but my tree is very lean :)
07:53:52 <hades> where do you put other children related expenses?
08:06:44 <Kaligula> I have "Children" subcategories like Education, Health, Clothes, Toys, Off-school classes/interests.
08:08:07 <Kaligula> hades: I'm not sure if this is a child-related expense. I tried to classify photo sessions as general as it can be and tried to group with something sentimental, souvenirs etc… but nothing good comes to my mind.

09:01:47 <hades> that's fair
09:03:55 <hades> at the end of the day it depends what you're using this for
09:04:26 <hades> e.g., if next year you'll want to cut expenses, which category would make you cut or not cut photo sessions?
09:04:46 <hades> maybe something like Luxuries, or Fun Events, or Experiences
10:59:00 <Kaligula> hades: That's a good point of view, thanks.

13:51:42 <AdrienM> Kaligula, Entertainment, Decor, Memorabilia also come to mind. But as Hades said, consider why you had the pictures taken. For example, I have several 'food' categories. Sometimes that falls under Groceries, Dining Out, Travel, Entertainment, Gifts, etc. I think the end-use or reason is most important when deciding where to put Expenses as that is what you will be thinking of when reviewing them.
14:33:37 *** palerider has left #gnucash
14:38:50 <Kaligula> AdrienM: Thanks. Entertainment is what I chose so far – but I didn't like it at first, so asked here for ideas :)
14:39:55 <AdrienM> Kaligula, you're welcome. My Dad was a photographer, so I never had the expense to contemplate where to record it!
16:29:35 <jralls> fell the windows build failure wasn't a disk space problem, it was because my changes in the Asan branch caused the windows paths to be space separated instead of semicolon-separated. Thanks for flagging it up: I knew at some point that I needed to check that, but forgot to. Fixed in git with a test build running on code's win32 host.
