11:31:54 <chris> @tell jralls #1623 I think this feature could be renamed "Group & Subtotal by Captured Substring" where the substring must be captured via regex
11:31:54 <gncbot> chris: The operation succeeded.
11:33:41 <chris> @tell jralls re: https://github.com/Gnucash/gnucash/pull/1623#issuecomment-1585771847 there's already "filter entries based on a string match on an arbitrary string"; they want "group+subtotal based on captured substring"
11:33:41 <gncbot> chris: The operation succeeded.

14:06:23 <gncbot> jralls: Sent 1 week, 0 days, 3 hours, and 18 minutes ago: <chris> if stripe integration was possible (send invoice for payment, and add payment details or perform the payment&invoice matching), which language would you think is best
14:06:24 <gncbot> jralls: Sent 1 week, 0 days, 3 hours, and 10 minutes ago: <chris> or use libcurl ...
14:06:25 <gncbot> jralls: Sent 2 hours and 34 minutes ago: <chris> #1623 I think this feature could be renamed Group & Subtotal by Captured Substring where the substring must be captured via regex
14:06:26 <gncbot> jralls: Sent 2 hours and 32 minutes ago: <chris> re: https://github.com/Gnucash/gnucash/pull/1623#issuecomment-1585771847 there's already filter entries based on a string match on an arbitrary string ; they want group+subtotal based on captured substring
14:13:58 <jralls> chris, regexes are not very user-friendly. Some *programmers* (e.g. warlord) hate them. Using them has to be optional.
14:17:40 <jralls> chris, as for Stripe, I suppose they use a web API. We've got WebKit built in but using the ancient version on Windows would be pretty dangerous. I guess libcurl would be safer, but I'm not sure how to handle authentication.

19:15:21 <chris> jralls: IMO using stripe webapi would be bad(TM)... if we'd start to send invoices, and retrieve payments, using libcurl, it'd be a start. authentication is via secret-string iiuc.
19:16:14 <chris> re: regex string capture -- it'll be to keep the peace and encourage dawansv!
19:17:55 <chris> CDB-Man: the upgraded stock_transaction assistant from tomorrow's build will be able to handle the ROC(reclassification) and ND(dividend). I'll upgrade IFRS report soon.

19:19:32 <chris> jralls: I/O supporting stripe as an API would be the modern equivalent to Aqbanking
19:20:35 <chris> e.g. I create invoice, send to stripe, await cc payment, sync payment into gnucash, marry up into bank statement. would be nice!

21:35:31 <chris> in case anyone interested: https://github.com/christopherlam/gnucash/tree/stable-stripe Simon jralls
21:37:08 <chris> entrypoint is from a invoice page, run Report > Company Report
21:42:22 <chris> the gc datafile would still be "source of truth" and store the stripe invoice/customer ids for object matching.
