08:20:59 <gour> hello, i've (finally) migrated to 4.13 and wonder how to take advantage of https://bugs.gnucash.org/show_bug.cgi?id=798614 since I want to migrate all my HRK accounts to EUR?

09:02:49 <james5s5s5> Hey, hoping this is the right place for this (and sorry if i accidentally sent this message twice). In gnucash, the default "printable invoice" layout didn't quite work for me so I altered the options for the columns, details etc, then saved it as a new configuration with a new, unused name. However, when I try to load this configuration into other invoices by going to reports>saved report
09:02:49 <james5s5s5> configurations>double click the configuration i saved, it just opens up the initial invoice that I tried to save the configuration of and doesn't modify the options on my current invoice. Hoping someone can help! Thanks

14:44:46 <jralls> gour, The change creates a fixed rate for HRK->EUR. I *think* the way to handle that is to create a new EUR account for every HRK one and transfer the HRK balance to the EUR account, then mark the HRK accounts as hidden placeholders.
14:48:16 <jralls> gour, for income and expenses you might consider running Tools>Close Book on 31 December. That will save you having to transfer every income and expense balance.

14:54:22 <jralls> @tell james5s5s5 Open your custom invoice then click Options in the toolbar. On the general tab you'll find a line Invoice Number. Change that to your new invoice then click Apply or OK.
14:54:22 <gncbot> jralls: The operation succeeded.

15:21:57 <jralls> warlord, were you able to find linas's phone # or otherwise get ahold of him?
15:26:37 <jralls> Otherwise there are squatters parked on gnucash.com and gnucash.net, but we can get gnucash.app from GoDaddy for $23/year.

16:31:43 <warlord> jralls, hopefully he will respond...
16:33:23 <jralls> Fingers crossed. I'd really rather have him hand over the keys than get a new car.
16:34:12 <warlord> Yes, definitely.
16:34:21 <jralls> I see from whois that gnucash.org is registered with somebody called the public interest registry. Do you know anything about them?
16:34:26 <warlord> Or maybe at least come up with a way for multiple of us to manage
16:34:38 <warlord> PIR is who "runs" .org
16:35:16 <warlord> The actual registrar is name dot com
16:36:30 <jralls> And the account there is controlled solely by linas, right?
16:52:58 <warlord> at name.com? As far as I know, yes.
16:53:12 <warlord> And he maintains the primary nameserver
16:56:59 <jralls> He who controls the domain registration controls what is the primary nameserver.
17:01:14 <warlord> This is true.

20:29:18 <chris> warlord: anyone ever attempted to write a TUI to browse a datafile?
20:30:08 <chris> like mutt
20:31:43 <jralls> chris, you mean like zless? Or something that interprets the XML and displays something more human-friendly?
20:33:07 <jralls> I think ledger might be able to read our data files. https://www.ledger-cli.org
20:33:16 <chris> something that allows keyboard navigation
20:33:45 <chris> (<g> it would be known for being fast and efficient, and could be called QUICKEN lol)
20:34:37 <chris> ledger cannot read datafile anymore... for the past 5+ years
20:37:07 <chris> [s]earch, [j]ump, [f]ilter, u/d/l/r, [g]oto-date, [home]acct-tree, e[x]pand-txn
20:39:20 <chris> j/k aside; small thought: should a stock account allow transactions in currency *other* than the parent currency?
20:39:46 <chris> gtg
21:11:22 <jralls> chris, Not without trading accounts and it might take some massaging to get it to work right with them. There was a thread about that on the mailing list where I told somebody to create fake splits of cash_curr -> stock_curr and stock_curr -> stock to make sure that both rates got captured.
21:12:56 <jralls> You can finesse that in the register by creating the transaction in the stock account's currency parent, but I wouldn't try to get a GnuCash beginner to do it that way.
