17:19:45 <Robert847> Found my notes from Jan 10. On that date I raised a flag about running totals in Register with subaccounts views But I confused it with other issues. Now I have found that in release 4.8 the running totals in that type of register view do not stay linked to particular transactions when the sort order is changed like they do in the standard register views. Does that issue still exist in release 4.13?
17:19:55 *** palerider has left #gnucash
17:20:57 <jralls> Probably. I don't remember any changes in the last year that would have affected it.
17:30:43 <Robert847> I haven't had time to make a good test file to use on my Windoze machine with release 4.13 or recent 4.99 build, but when I get that done I may return with a bug report for that issue.
17:34:44 <jralls> I'm not sure that's fixable. A single-account register uses the balance that's calculated by the account and stored in the split, but a register displaying sub-account's can't do that so it has to calculate a running balance on the fly.

17:42:24 <Robert847> I am sure that it wouldn't be trivial but if the subtotals can be displayed in the standard sort order, why not in other sort orders?
17:42:49 <Robert847> I didn't say that right

17:45:46 <Robert847> if the running totals can be displayed with each transaction in the standard sort order, but not in other sort orders, then they sohuld not be displayed at all if they are wrong in other sort orders
17:48:27 <Robert847> I believe that is how it works when there are security sub-accounts in a brokerage account
17:50:00 <Robert847> Anyway, enough for today
