00:21:35 <chris> CDB-Man maybe issue with "Dividend reinvestment (without remainder)" during shorting
00:26:09 <CDB-Man> may not matter, since div reinvestment isnt really applicable for a short position
00:26:17 <CDB-Man> may actually want to blacklist it
00:26:20 <CDB-Man> TBD
00:26:42 <CDB-Man> for both with and without remainder
00:26:47 <CDB-Man> during short

12:12:10 <Robert847> I got into a pickle with Release 3.8 running in Lubuntu 22.04 where I was attempting to select some text from a transaction that has a reconciled split line and GnuCash froze up with a couple of no longer pending edits that were not yet saved to disc. The freeze was so solid that I could do nearly nothing except try to start a reconcile, but then all I could do is use the escape key to close that dialog.
12:12:24 <Robert847> So eventually I found that the OS could try to force a program close, but I got a warning that there were unsaved changes. I was able to click save and the program closed. Now, I restarted the program and it went right back into the frozen state.
12:12:37 <Robert847> Now there is no asterisk in the title bar next to thefilename
12:12:47 <Robert847> Currently the highlight is frozen on the date in the empty transactiion at the bottom of the register
12:13:00 <Robert847> I am able to click on the account tab to the right of the frozen tab and it will swtch to that register but it is still frozen
12:13:12 <Robert847> How can I unfreeze it?
12:19:54 <Robert847> I was able to move the curser to the right into num. desc, and press enter. It tries to start another new transaction but it is still mostly frozen
12:20:41 <Robert847> still stuck in the blank transaction
12:22:24 <Robert847> The Transfer button will start a transfer but I have never tried to do that and I have no clue what would happen
12:23:06 <Robert847> nope, that will mostly do nothing too
12:24:15 <Robert847> would it make a difference to try opening a different date file or reboot the OS?
12:24:27 <Robert847> data file
12:26:49 <Robert847> All menu functions are locked including help

16:35:27 <jralls> gjannsens Just did a live test of price-quotes-cpp. Works fine!
16:44:53 <jralls> gjanssens, we just need to turn the diagnostic `cout <<` into `PINFO` or `DEBUG`s.
16:47:02 <gjanssens> jralls: good to hear it didn't bit rot too much :)

16:48:47 <gjanssens> I haven't re-read my code recently. Did I already use price-quotes-cpp for fetching quotes via the prices database GUI or only via the command line ?
16:50:10 <gjanssens> Just saw your reply on the PR. I'll leave it to you then. (A relief actually...)
16:50:26 <gjanssens> I was aware error handling needed more work.
16:53:41 <jralls> I used the GUI. It printed the quotes to the console so I'm pretty sure it went through price-quotes.cpp.
16:53:55 <gjanssens> Ok, right :)
16:54:54 <gjanssens> Other topic - how long should I wait before repinging linas about the web server issue ?
16:55:17 <gjanssens> I don't want to push him as perhaps he's in holidays...
16:56:54 <jralls> I'd go for once a week. Don't worry too much about holidays, we Americans don't take them anywhere near as seriously as Europeans do! :-)
16:58:36 <gjanssens> LOL
17:00:44 <gjanssens> Ok, as it's been two weeks now, I have resent the request.
17:01:14 <jralls> On that topic is his "I want to retire" post on core and warlord's earlier one about turning his basement into a full high availability data center.
17:02:30 <jralls> All echos of we need more redundancy but can't seem to make any progress towards getting it.
17:06:46 <gjanssens> Yes, I saw those pass by as well...
17:07:31 <gjanssens> I can probably also run a mirror of the website somewhere on my infrastructure, but I don't know how much time *I* will have available in the future.
17:09:27 <gjanssens> Time for bed. TTYL!
17:09:46 <jralls> Goodnight!

18:31:09 <warlord> @tell gjanssens we definitely need to figure out and execute some contingency plans, both for Linas' infra and mine.
18:31:09 <gncbot> warlord: The operation succeeded.
