13:57:52 <jralls> gjanssens, I don't see any reason to adopt the `v` prefix, but then I don't use git shell completion either. I do agree about tags only for releases and that it should correspond to the change in the version number in CMakeLists.txt. Our practice of tagging releases with a letter suffix when things go wrong in the release process does break that convention.
