I've run into this multiple times over a couple of years now where the cash never actually shows in the other register unless you manually type the same value on the other side.

I then open that tax withholding account and the transaction as shown on that side has completely blank records - the $1,000 is literally lost despite the double-entry

(A stock account in NASDAQ:GOOG) and the second is from the perspective of "Tax/Withheld USD" (A cash account in USD). You can see that for some reason it thinks I moved 47 cents over not $984. The register is saved, there is no inconsistency caused by having not yet committed the transaction.
