08:58:39 <chris> jralls_afk re: test-stress-options - did you suggest that it be split to each report in use? thus: test-trial-balance.scm test-category-barchart.scm test-income-gst-statement.scm, one for each report to be tested ?
08:59:33 <chris> this can be done; pro=parallelism con=when single-threaded it'll be slower
09:00:52 <chris> It'd mean test-stress-options.scm would be upgraded to a module, and each test-reportname.scm would call "(gnc:stress-test uuid)"
09:01:18 <chris> Twice in fact; once with empty book and another with populated book
09:09:28 <chris> CDB-Man_ / jralls_afk the 'home-currency' is conceptually identical to peter.selinger's 'reference-currency' ? It means trading accounts shouldn't exist?

12:40:29 <fell> gjanssens, do you have resources, where we could setup a european mirror?
12:40:37 <jralls_afk> gjanssens The first segment of https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bu1AEze14Ns (C++ Mythbusting with Jason Turner and Victor Ciura) mentioned on this week's CPP-cast) is about std::regex. Interesting.
12:41:41 <jralls_afk> gjanssens: TL;DW: It doesn't go well. They suggest another non-standard library called CTRE.

13:09:28 <jralls> The nightly builds of the docs are at https://code.gnucash.org/docs/C (or de, it, ja, pt depending on what language you want; MAINT and MASTER are the API documentation).
13:11:35 <david_> Hmm, I think I can use that.. Shouldn't be that far from stable 4.4 I guess.
13:11:42 <david_> Thanks.

13:32:00 <crossan007_> Hey all. I'm still on 3.11, and looking to go to 4.4. I'm using the MySQL back end. Aside from a proper database backup, are there any hiccups I should be aware of with the upgrade?
13:39:11 <jralls> crossan007_ There aren't any significant changes to the SQL backend between 3 and 4. There's a recent bug, https://bugs.gnucash.org/show_bug.cgi?id=798112, but I believe that applies to all versions of GnuCash from 2.4.0.
13:39:39 <crossan007_> jralls: thanks :-)

13:55:04 <crossan007_> I did a quick search in the bug tracker for "budget editor" and don't see anything related to performance. Has anyone else observed / reported the budget editor to be "slow" when selecting cells for editing? It was that way in 3.11, and still seems sluggish in 4.4

14:01:07 <jralls> Probably. There have been a lot of complaints about the budget module over the years but no one has stepped up to do anything about it until a few months ago--and that person is chris, who's most comfortable in the report module.

14:12:05 <warlord> Well, we could just remove the budget features from the UI until someone steps up ;)
14:12:24 <crossan007_> no no no :-) I love the budget feature. It's just a tad snail-like :-)

14:29:48 <giuseppef> Hi all, is there a way to order accounts in multicolumns reports? I whould like to have them ordered by level and then by accont's number but it seems to order them by level an then alphabetical
14:30:10 <kd1yv3> My problem is with the autofill function in the account detail screen. It is identical to the problem described in Bug #796734, however, that bug is specific to Mac. I am on a PC running Fedora 33 KDE spin up to date with all patches. Any suggestions?

14:49:41 <warlord> giuseppef, it will depend on the report. Some of them have sort order options.
14:50:49 <giuseppef> hi warlord, I am struggling with multicolumn. I really can't understand how it orders accounts. Even using spaces before names, doesn't seems to work

17:26:10 <CDB-Man_> chris: i now get more digits
17:27:48 <CDB-Man_> hmm, and with the higher precision, i can see that when on legacy income statement i run pstart of prev year to end of prev year (2020-01-01 to 2020-12-31), i get usdcad 1.2729 vs when i do start of previous year (2021-01-01) to today (2021-02-07) on multicolumn, i get 1.2727 for the period 2020-01-01 to 2020-12-31
17:28:13 <CDB-Man_> so for sure, your multicolumn is not pulling the right rate somehow for the previous year if the period is longer than just the previous year
17:28:52 <CDB-Man_> if i make multicol have the date range of "start of prev year" to "end of prev year" then i get 1.2729 which is the same as legacy
