11:44:30 <gaserre> Good morning, Any hints on finding function usage in gnucash? I have been using find, xargs, and grep for decades, but maybe it time to try tags?
11:44:30 <gaserre> I probably also need to look in the *.i files in addition to the *.c, *.ccp, *.h files. Is there anywhere else?
11:44:30 <gaserre> The function I'm currently looking at is gnc_uri_is_uri, and I'm not finding where it's used.
11:48:00 <chris> try ripgrep
11:48:33 <chris> gnc_uri_is_uri doesn't seem to be used at all
11:49:08 <chris> you found a ghost function

14:11:11 <gaserre> RE: test failures: it appears to have been a problem with competing guile versions. I mucked about a bit, but I think what may have fixed it was reinstalling guile-2.2, guile-2.2-dev, guile-2.2-libs and rerunning cmake.

18:43:48 <chris> @tell gjanssens -- I'll be using the QIF importer because a bank refuses to fix OFX and add FITID. Would you mind letting me know how to call the generic import-matcher receives its data?
18:43:48 <gncbot> chris: The operation succeeded.

18:45:06 <chris> The idea is to replace QIF import matcher with the generic one

20:31:34 <warlord> chris, doing that will be VERY difficult. The QIF importer is tied pretty tightly to the QIF importer UI -- they call back and forth to each other.
20:31:54 <warlord> Migrating QIF to the generic matcher would require significant changes to the QIF importer.
20:32:06 <warlord> (trust me -- I looked into that a decade ago!)
20:33:04 <chris> :(
20:36:53 <warlord> sorry
20:37:55 <chris> looks like the generic importer relies on "new" txns being created but not commited. my idea would be to allow qif-importer to complete similarly then call genric matcher
20:38:42 <warlord> But by the time the qif importer gets to that stage, all matching has already completed.
20:39:29 <warlord> QIF also has the benefit that many choices are 1 to many. E.g. mapping a QIF Account or QIF Category to GNC Account need be done only once but affects all transactions that use that QIF identity.
20:39:32 <chris> well yeah, truncate/decptate the qif importer
20:39:42 <chris> ... ok
20:40:17 <warlord> Simiarly, mapping Payee and Memo (which is the place where the generic matcher would best be used), is also a 1:many if you have duplicate strings.
20:56:50 <chris> it would be easier then to build a brand new single-account qif-importer
