03:32:41 <gncbot> gjanssens: Sent 3 days, 7 hours, and 14 minutes ago: <fell> The GNOME 3.34 runtime is no longer supported as of 14th August 2020. Anything else todo than changing runtime-version and watch a successful build?
03:36:25 <gjanssens> fell_laptop: sometimes new runtimes come with incompatibilities to take care of. I have seen build failures for example due to newer compilers being introduced in more recent runtimes.
03:37:11 <gjanssens> Gnucash itself is generally ok as we typically already have solved newer compiler issues in our code thanks to user feedback.
03:37:26 <gjanssens> It's not always the case for our dependencies.

04:54:45 <andreas^> I'm doing a tutorial on split transactions. The tutorial instructs me to make a new transaction, click "Split" and fill in a deposit value. however I cannot access the deposit or withdrawal fields. not the "Account" field either.
04:55:16 <andreas^> only the split lines allow me to fill these fields in.

05:19:36 <Mechtilde> andreas^, not only guys are here, so it is better to only say "hello"
05:20:16 <andreas^> Mechtilde: sorry about that.
05:20:33 <Mechtilde> andreas^, you fill the split lines with part of the amount
05:21:22 <Mechtilde> and then therre is an additional line with the unassigned amount
05:21:39 <Mechtilde> so you get more lines to split an amount
05:22:39 <Mechtilde> which language of the tutorial do you use?
05:22:53 <andreas^> Mechtilde: english.
05:23:11 <andreas^> I cannot access the deposit/withdrawal fields on the first line.
05:23:24 <Mechtilde> Please look at the screenshots in the German version
05:23:43 <Mechtilde> As I remember I did some Screenshots with the splits
05:23:48 <andreas^> it says "tot deposit" instead of "deposit".
05:24:54 <Mechtilde> in general a create splits in the form of the bank account
05:25:55 <Mechtilde> and then go to the line like food because there are some amount e.g for T-shirt
05:26:33 <Mechtilde> then I reduce the amount for food and get a new line with the diffence which I use for e.g. the T-shiert
05:26:44 <Mechtilde> T-Shirt
05:30:17 <andreas^> it's hard for me to understand.

05:38:47 <andreas^> "and then go to the line like food because there are some amount e.g for T-shirt "
05:39:19 <Mechtilde> ok let me try again
05:40:00 <Mechtilde> did you pay it cash?
05:40:19 <andreas^> pay what cash?
05:40:29 <Mechtilde> what you want to split?
05:40:48 <andreas^> the assignment is a paycheck that needs split lines.
05:40:49 <Mechtilde> or what elso do you want to split
05:41:05 <andreas^> and paying the taxes in those splits.
05:41:51 <Mechtilde> then you go to that line and choose split
05:42:33 <Mechtilde> then you see 3 Lines
05:43:41 <Mechtilde> and 3 times the same amount

09:01:12 <warlord> andreas^, That is correct, once you click the splits button you can only access the Debit and Credit cells in the split-lines, not the transaction line (because the transaction itself has no debits/credit -- those are Split properties.
09:02:11 <warlord> chris, fell -- I will take a look. Honestly, I run the server but it was jsled that set up gncbot and I'm very fuzzy on its configuration.
