04:09:56 <RollingRusty> Welche der Quellen für xetra Kurse funktioniert?

17:47:03 <keiffer> Question about associating external files
17:47:03 <gncbot> keiffer: Sent 41 weeks, 2 days, 16 hours, and 17 minutes ago: <jralls> I think it's odd too, particularly since I've never seen the problem.
17:48:25 <keiffer> In v3, when linking a file to a transaction, even if that file was in a path that used a symlink, the symlink was used.
17:56:13 <jralls> And now it doesn't. Let me guess, that breaks your usage on different machines where the absolute path to the linked docs is different.
17:59:40 <keiffer> The two machines happen to use the same path. At the moment. But, I previously had a path of say, ~/Documents/Scans/[linked-file-name.pdf]. The actual path is ~/Box/Scans/[linked-file-name.pd]. V4 now expands the previous path name to the latter. So, now, when I want to move to another target (Owncloud, NAS, whatever), I have to find all the links to that ~/Box/ folder, instead of just changing the target for ~/Documents/Scans.
17:59:53 <keiffer> Does this make sense?
18:01:08 <jralls> Yes, it does. Use a relative path and set the relative path head in Preferences>General.
18:02:58 <keiffer> That's what I thought, so changed the path to ~/Documents/Scans. Then when I navigate to select the file in GnuCash, select the file fine. But when I hover over the 'f' the path in the bubble is the expanded, actual path.
18:07:14 <keiffer> I had originally created the symlink in the terminal like the normal Unix way (ln -s ...). And since that didn't work I thought I'd try the Apply Finder approach of "Create alias". That didn't work either, ;-).
18:09:07 <keiffer> I just thought I'd put it out there in case it was actually unexpected behaviour. Otherwise, really like v4!!

18:17:28 <jralls> Short nap!
18:20:03 <fell> @tell gjanssens 1. problem to restrict flatpaks: which: no strace in (/app/bin:/usr/bin)
18:20:03 <gncbot> fell: The operation succeeded.
18:33:36 <jralls> keiffer, I think the obliteration of the links might be a side effect of Gtk changing to native file chooser. Our File>Open, File>Save, and File>Save As file chooser isn't affected by that change because it adds the backend type selector, but the Manage Document Link dialog is obviously bringing up the native file chooser. I haven't tried in the debugger but I bet it's following the link when you browse through it but returning the "real" path whe
18:33:37 <jralls> n you select. There's nothing I see in Gnucash's code that would replace the link in the path.

19:29:13 <jralls> fell, I don't want to chase Martin's beta releases on gnucash-on-osx. When it's time for 4.3 I'll change if he has a stable update.

20:18:29 <fell> @tell gjanssens The GNOME 3.34 runtime is no longer supported as of 14th August 2020. Anything else todo than changing runtime-version and watch a successful build?
20:18:29 <gncbot> fell: The operation succeeded.
20:37:26 <fell> jralls, your opinion for our (fatpak) gnome runtime update? Aready if flatpak update shows a new version or after we get above warning?
20:39:21 <jralls> fell, my knowledge of that is rather limited, but ISTM it's probably better to keep up with what flatpak thinks is the current version rather than the oldest supported one unless there's a good reason to hold back.
