07:59:31 <grepular> I'm new to gnucash. I'm running Debian. I noticed that there is a flatpak version of gnucash on flathub, which is newer than the one in the debian apt repo. Just wondering if it is maintained by somebody known to the project, or if it's maintained by some random person?
08:10:48 <chris> https://flathub.org/apps/details/org.gnucash.GnuCash is by John Ralls the current gnucash maintainer
08:14:31 <grepular> Cool, thanks

11:03:35 <grepular> I have a few crypto currencies. I don't see any support for them in the currency list when creating a new asset. What's the recommended way to deal with these?

15:27:14 <jralls> chris, At the level we're using Chromium *is* webkit, except that it uses Google's V8 javascript engine instead of Apple's. The problem is that AFAIK there's no Gtk webview.

15:31:52 <jralls> grepular: GnuCash follows ISO 4217 to decide what's a currency, and they recognize no cryptocurrencies last we checked. The most straightforward way to deal in them is to create securities and treat them like stocks, though that's cumbersome if you want to use them like an actual currency because GnuCash doesn't support barter very well.
