12:20:58 <fell> You can replace gwenview by any other program, which can display .png etc.
12:24:58 <gjanssens> fell: gwenview doesn't seem to be compiled for flatpak. I'd have to search why
12:25:15 <fell> Thanks!
12:25:49 <gjanssens> Can you try to replace it with /usr/bin/xdg-open ?
12:26:09 <gjanssens> On my system that will ask the user for an application to view the image
12:26:36 <gjanssens> The list of presented applications is taken from the ones installed on your main system, not inside the flatpak
12:26:55 <gjanssens> I can then select gwenview to open the png for example
12:29:58 <fell> As I have no Optical TAN in use, I will ask the users to test it.

16:28:42 <jralls> fell, do you think that TP's insistence that it should be done by hand is stupid?
16:30:22 <fell> We have not only TP maintained po files.
16:32:30 <fell> The TP bot will do it after release for TP maintained files.
16:34:01 <fell> Then we have some direct submitting translators with a build environment and some without one.
16:39:29 *** puck has quit IRC
16:39:35 <jralls> On re-reading, I'm not sure what the TP does and after dealing with Benno for the last 10 years I'm not convinced that they really know what they do either. The second sentence of the bit you quoted from their web page says that processing POT files is handled "by hand", but the third says that the registration script runs msgmerge automatically.
16:41:37 <jralls> Since running msgmerge on an already up to date file is a no-op I suppose that there's no harm in including it in our dist target so that tarballs always include up-to-date po files.
16:43:14 <fell> The fields in the header: maintainers, languages, or translators are it allowed to process.
16:43:56 <jralls> Oh, I guess there is possible harm: If the TP registering script detects no changes because we already ran msgmerge it might not send the notification to the translation team.
16:44:36 <fell> AFAIK they do not use our po files.
16:44:56 <jralls> "...nor is it allowed to process POT files. These things are still handled by hand."
16:45:40 <fell> They create a pot from our release and merge it in their po.files.
16:46:24 <fell> After a translator there updates a file we load it down.
16:46:37 *** puck has joined #gnucash
16:47:30 <fell> I still remember I had to convert es.po several times, because after each download it was again ISO encoded instead of UTF.
16:50:21 <jralls> Meaning that they don't refresh their po files from the ones in our tarballs, so any time we change the po files between releases those changes are lost.
16:50:53 *** Mechtilde has quit IRC
16:50:56 <fell> yep
16:51:30 <fell> but not in files, which are not maintained there.
16:53:10 *** gjanssens has quit IRC
16:56:29 <fell> Compromise: I exclude TP maintained files from my msgmerge commit?
16:56:56 <jralls> I'll refine that a bit: The changes we make are lost on the few occasions that the TP translator bothers to update. That's only one so far this year and only 4 others last year. 6 more in 2018, 1 last in 2017, 3 in 2016.
16:58:15 <fell> That means?
16:59:31 <jralls> That means that the changes that we've made in the last year have been overwritten in exactly one TP translation, uk.

17:02:31 *** aminbegood has joined #gnucash
17:05:25 *** sbluhm has quit IRC
17:06:29 <jralls> It also means that I don't think we should worry too much about what the TP does. If it will make life easier for the other translators to update the po files for them then we should go ahead.
17:10:19 <fell> The first difference: Lokalize 20.07.70 undoes line formats . But it seems he reviewed all strings.
17:10:57 <fell> OK, then I will commit the msgmerge for all.

19:54:34 <Robert847> There has been a long standing issue with older releases of GnuCash prior to 3.x where, when using a mouse to navigate in a register that contains entries with more than a single split for that account, clicking on an entry separated from the the entry currently with the focus past a transaction containing multiple splits to another transactiion, the focus is not transferred to the desired target transaction, but to a different transact
19:54:34 <gncbot> Robert847: Sent 8 weeks, 0 days, 9 hours, and 3 minutes ago: <fell> Did you read https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Online_Quotes#Helper_Scripts
19:54:34 <Robert847> ion.
19:55:44 <Robert847> This is very frustrating to land on some transaction that I did not target.
19:56:40 <Robert847> My questioin is: Has this problem been reported on and fixed in 3.10 or so?
20:02:46 *** Unhammer has quit IRC
20:23:30 *** Unhammer has joined #gnucash
20:38:00 <Robert847> I believe that this issue is related to the artifact that transactions with more than a single split line in the anchor account always appear as many times as there are split lines for that account. Since this is normal for security sale or closing transactions, this is not that rare in data files.
20:43:45 <fell> warlord, IMHO there is no reason to send 11M of msgmerge noise.
20:52:35 <Robert847> <fell> that is interesting reading, but I forgot why I would have wanted to read it.
20:54:31 <fell> Robert847: Something you asked 8 weeks ago.I assume the last time whenyou have spoken on IRC.

20:57:54 <Robert847> OK, I found it in the logs. I started getting exceptionally slow stock price updates on March 9. I later figured out that my VM was running out of RAM
20:58:21 <fell> That can happen.
21:05:19 <Robert847> It does seem that FQ uses a lot of RAM, but I also had two or three web browsers open at the same time, so no big surprise
