03:24:50 <chris> gjanssens: not done yet. https://imgur.com/a/26WwPwa yay/nay? :D
03:24:50 <gncbot> chris: Sent 16 hours and 34 minutes ago: <gjanssens> that is my observation as well. The user should only be allowed to set the split-action-for-num book property at book creation. Changing it afterwards will break assumptions.
03:24:51 <gncbot> chris: Sent 16 hours and 30 minutes ago: <gjanssens> your most recent push adds a lot of question marks in the rhs Description column. That was not the case in an earlier state this morning.
03:24:52 <gncbot> chris: Sent 15 hours and 6 minutes ago: <gjanssens> Your final push fixes the question marks for me. So it looks like you're done. Congrats!

03:44:03 <iliv> no? nobody can answer my questions? :)
03:45:26 <chris> iliv: may be not here. try the gnucash-user mailing list.
03:46:31 <iliv> I thought developers would be better suited to address these problems...
03:47:35 <chris> not necessarily. users also often have experience to share.
03:48:25 <gjanssens> chris: the empty space improves readability for me
03:49:14 <gjanssens> How do you define the column width? Via css I hope ?
03:49:16 *** bertbob has joined #gnucash
03:49:18 *** ChanServ sets mode: +v bertbob
03:50:08 <chris> the column width automatically becomes narrow if all cells in column are 'empty'
03:53:55 <chris> after that i'm now happy; i'm sure users will shake off more edge cases in due course
04:02:02 <gjanssens> Ok on column width, though for future report stylists, you may want to add a class attribute to these cells that only serve to layout, like 'class="spacer"'
04:02:53 <gjanssens> Another suggestion: now the lhs and rhs are more clearly separated, it could be useful to add another table header row with two columns
04:03:21 <gjanssens> one with a description of what's in lhs and one with a description of what's in rhs
04:04:17 <gjanssens> I'm not sure what good short descriptions would be, but having good ones could certainly help new report users interpret what's presented
04:05:28 <gjanssens> something like lhs "History", rhs "Balancing actions"
04:05:50 <gjanssens> But those are probably awkward...
04:07:02 <chris> https://www.w3.org/WAI/tutorials/tables/irregular/#table-with-two-tier-headers but not sure if html-table.scm supports it
04:08:42 <chris> I'd do "Customer History" vs "Linked Documents"
04:13:16 <gjanssens> That's the idea yes. Your proposal is better than mine, except rhs are not only documents. There are payments as well, or prepayments and overpayments.

04:38:47 <chris> @tell gjanssens to add another class "spacer" means amend all stylesheets. otherwise they won't render.

07:35:08 <chris> @tell gjanssens I guess your request for a "spacer" class comes from 797411... this would need an upgrade to html-fonts and all stylesheets

09:28:27 <chris> @tell gjanssens https://imgur.com/a/kYZyOUL can be done by repeating the <tr><th>...</tr> row but html-table doesn't support it (yet)

10:25:10 <chris> @tell gjanssens the way to do the multirow headers is to augment <html-table> -- it'll have old-school single-row col-headers (list of TH elements), and new multirow-headers (list of list of TH elements)
10:25:10 <gncbot> chris: The operation succeeded.
10:25:30 <chris> @tell gjanssens maybe thhis needs to wait till 3.8 out first

14:38:07 <mdf> jralls: I'll try running the pacman -Syuu earlier next time. I'm going to wait until you fix up the new webkit package before trying again. After I had done those, it got stuck with not being able to find gtk3 for gwenhywfar as well.

14:58:29 <jralls> mdf: No surprise, because the webkit fails for want of angleproject, so none of its dependencies are loaded.
14:59:20 <jralls> What I hope is the ready-to-use webkit build is now running. Fortunately my vm is a bit faster than yours, only takes about 4 hours.
15:00:20 <mdf> this time I've only installed gtk3 with pacman and tried it again.. previously I was think I had to go in and add a path manually, but it's been a few months since i've done that since I don't really care about aqbanking that much
15:00:56 <mdf> thanks for digging into it
15:03:26 <mdf> jralls: with computers the way they are, i haven't felt a need to upgrade my main computer in a few years since it still does everything I still need, though some tasks might take a bit longer
15:04:33 <jralls> One other thing about running jhbuild from the mingw32 shell vs. buildserver/build_package.ps1: Guile seems to be more likely to hang or fail to find dependencies when building GnuCash in the mingw32 shell. Not sure why.
15:05:30 <mdf> I have noticed that. My experience it seems to occur more often when I'm doing a rebuild and I will usually delete a lot of the cache files to resolve it
15:05:38 <jralls> As for upgrades, I trust you mean hardware. Connecting a computer with a not-up-to-date OS to the net is dangerous and irresponsible.
15:05:58 <mdf> yes. hardware only
15:06:11 <mdf> they are all running up to date software and patches :)
