00:04:10 <chris> are we happy with the terminology that for a TXN-TYPE-PAYMENT, Transfer->APAR is "Payment" whereas APAR->Transfer is "Refund"? for Cust/Vend/Emp/etc?

14:37:00 <shakes808> Hello everyone, I have an issue that I can't seem to find an answer to. I have an invoice that won't post. The amounts that are on the bottom status bar have a "C" in them like this
14:37:30 <shakes808> Total: C$123.45 Subtotal: C$123.45 Tax: C$1.23
14:38:05 <shakes808> What does that mean?

15:48:43 <gjanssens> shakes808: C$ means the invoice is in Canadian dollars. Is that your book's currency ?
15:49:35 <gjanssens> If not, you'll have to check the customer's currency whether it matches your book's currency
15:49:47 <gjanssens> Or more precisely the currency of your AR account.
15:52:07 *** boldstripe has quit IRC
15:53:02 *** boldstripe has joined #gnucash
15:58:06 <shakes808> No, should be USD. I'll check that. Is that why it won't pick up an account to post to?
15:58:11 <shakes808> gjanssens:
15:58:42 <gjanssens> Yes. GnuCash will only post to an account of the same currency as the invoice.
15:59:27 <gjanssens> You can have post to accounts in different currencies if you invoice in different currencies. But for small businesses this is fairly uncommon.
16:02:57 <shakes808> It was in Canadian money :( Thank you for that. I don't know how I set it up that way. Is there a way to change the invoice to USD or do I have to create a new one?
16:21:40 <shakes808> gjanssens I created a new one and worked as expected. Thank you. i will zero out the incorrect one. One more question if you know it. If I have a client that I gave credit to, how do I handle that? in the set up of the client I gave them a credit limit of $100 but when I created the invoice and trying to put a payment toward it, it didn't show the credit.
16:22:45 <gjanssens> shakes808: about the bad invoice, it will probably change currency if you switch owner. So temporarily assign it to another customer and then back.
16:24:45 <gjanssens> I don't know about the credit limit. I never used that feature.
16:25:48 * gjanssens has to leave now...

16:37:04 <shakes808> Does anyone know how to work with credits and invoices?
16:46:19 <jralls> shakes808 Probably not here. Ask on gnucash-user.

16:54:51 <shakes808> jralls: there isn't a channel with that name
16:55:47 <jralls> shakes808: Of course not. It's the user mailing list. See https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Mailing_Lists.

19:46:36 <jralls> chris: Oh, I dunno. It's an improvement on https://travis-ci.org/Gnucash/gnucash/builds/624241583?utm_source=github_status from two days ago.
19:49:38 <jralls> chris: Do your test-owner-report changes rely on something from Guile-2.2? Ubuntu 18.04 has Guile 2.0.13.
19:52:57 <chris> that's what I suspect
19:53:25 <chris> (define (proc arg) ...) and later I called (proc arg1 arg2) in error; this surprisingly passes on guile-2.2
19:54:09 <jralls> That would seem to be a bug in guile-2.2!
19:54:30 * chris agree
19:55:21 <chris> this doesn't work on my REPL so something weird in new-owner-report to allow it to pass
19:56:27 <chris> ahaha
19:56:40 <chris> it does not error out (in error) when the (proc arg) is an internal define
19:56:50 <chris> I'll send it to bugs-guile
19:57:42 <chris> internal define: (define (above) ... (define (proc arg) ...) ..... (proc arg1 arg2)) where (proc) is defined inside (above)
20:04:02 <chris> sent bug to bug-guile.
20:05:34 <jralls> Good thing that we have CI for both versions.
20:06:30 <chris> agreed
20:13:13 <chris> I'll wait 1-2h then push with appropriate commit msg hopefully with feedback from guilers
