14:17:04 <jralls> karelk: How about "SELECT t.post_dat, t.description, s.value_num, s.value_denominator FROM splits as s, transactions as t, accounts as a WHERE s.account_guid = a.guid AND s.tx_guid = t.guid AND a.account_type = 'EXPENSE' AND t.post_date >= '2019-10-01 00:00:01' AND t.post_date <= '2019-10-31 23:59:59'; ? Note that value is a rational number, value_num/value_denominator. If you want to total them copy the result into a spreadsheet to convert to dec

14:17:30 <jralls> karelk s/t.post_dat/t.post_date/
14:20:07 <jralls> chris: OK, I think we probably want the balance forecast report reserve and target to be gnc_numerics and to have an entry that reads them.

22:22:16 <peanutbutterandcrackers> Hello there, I am quite new to guile; but I hope to create a guile extension to gnucash which would automate daily invoicing for the customers of a small business
22:22:55 <peanutbutterandcrackers> It would be much like a spreadsheet but it will work with the invoicing and payment modules of gnucash
22:23:37 <peanutbutterandcrackers> And I hope to make it something that is a 'tool' rather than a 'custom report'. A 'tool' much like 'process payment' etc.
22:24:30 <peanutbutterandcrackers> Any pointers, ideas, etc please? I am pretty new to guile and don't know much about C.
22:27:53 <peanutbutterandcrackers> A bit more explanation: My parents farm sells milk every morning and evening. Some customers pay in cash while some in credit. There are about ~30 customers. And it is really boring to go through each one of them in the customer list and add an invoice and a payment (if they made one) at the end of the day... not to mention error-prone
22:30:43 <peanutbutterandcrackers> I did write a python script to automate things but that, too, isn't the most convenient solution. The most convenient solution would be to implement a tool in gnucash much like Business->Customers->"Customer Overview" except there'll be fields there (spreadsheet-like) that will take how much a customer took. This will act as a front-end, and will trigger the necessary invoices/payments as well.
22:31:59 <peanutbutterandcrackers> I hope to write it in guile itself and have it as something accessible from the menu like Tools->Custom->"Daily Invoicing" (or something) and hide the details so that even non-technical people (my parents) can use it
22:32:59 <peanutbutterandcrackers> (The current gnucash-python requires a .ods created from a particular .odt to be exported as a .csv and called upon with a python script via the command line... it's not the most user-friendly of solutions)
