02:15:22 <fell> jralls: I think cstim hit the point in his recent answer at gnucash-user: Important is, which aqb is available at runtime, not at build time.
02:17:16 <sbluhm> I assume my mentioned issue with starting online features from within Gnucash 3.7 points to an issue with aqbanking 5.99 beta. Do you want me to open a GnuCash bug to verify the integration or clear the background with aqbanking first (which I would do now)?
02:23:31 <fell> sblum: wo waren wir stehen geblieben?
02:24:48 <fell> Du hattest einen Crash wegen der aqbanking Geschichte?
02:25:20 <fell> sbluhm ^
02:28:29 <sbluhm> fell, apologies. I only caught up on the thread above. I did not see the discussion before my post this morning. That discussion makes total sense. So will see what is going on at aqbanking and see if/how I can contribute. Thanks a lot for th ebackground info. saved me a lot of research time
02:29:58 <fell> You can currently build (multiple times) daily and report progress.
02:30:57 <fell> depending on the suspected component at aqbanking-user or gnucash-de.
02:31:31 <fell> jrall: I meant aqbanking-user.
02:32:06 <sbluhm> fell: are you asking me to take the intra-day snapshots of aqbanking and report back here if they work?
02:34:36 <fell> tell on aqbanking feature x at bank y is still not|now working and here, if gnucash crashes or can not reach a feature.
02:35:47 <sbluhm> ok sure, can do that
02:36:39 <sbluhm> i guess i should work with master on both, gnucash + aqbanking, right?
02:36:52 <sbluhm> or latest gnucash release
02:37:57 <fell> No, on maint are the recent changes
02:45:43 <fell> and we at gnucash do not merge daily maint into master.

03:13:58 <gncbot> CarwynNelson: Sent 7 hours and 46 minutes ago: <jralls> So it builds but the tests fail because there's something wrong with the ArchLinux Googletest: It doesn't run SetUpTestSuite so gtk_init() isn't getting called.

06:42:50 <sbluhm> Can someone please give me a hint what the issue here is? I am trying to compile GnuCash Maintenance/Master on CentOS 7 from Github.
06:42:51 <sbluhm> When I execute "cmake -DPYTHON_EXECUTABLE:FILEPATH=/usr/bin/python3.6 -DWITH_PYTHON=ON ../gnucash-maint", I get
06:42:51 <sbluhm> CMake Error at common/test-core/CMakeLists.txt:47 (add_library):

06:42:53 <sbluhm> No SOURCES given to target: gncmod-gnome-utils
06:42:54 <sbluhm> and many more.
06:42:55 <sbluhm> The release from the tar builds fine.
06:43:28 <CarwynNelson> do those files exist?
06:45:51 <CarwynNelson> Only reason I ask is that my immediate thought was either a courrupt checkout somehow, or maybe commit you are building off had some issues?
06:46:12 <sbluhm> no, they don't exist
06:46:36 <sbluhm> I took the master (as zip) from git as well as maintenance (as zip)
06:47:02 <sbluhm> let me check the git via the web interface. I don't believe the files existed
06:48:22 <sbluhm> /common/test-core/swig-unittest-support-python.c is actually not in the repository
06:48:47 <sbluhm> also not in the 3.7 release in git.
06:49:03 <CarwynNelson> so it works when you download the zip, but not when you build from the git repo?
06:49:16 <sbluhm> it works when I download the official release package
06:49:48 <sbluhm> but not when I download the maintenance or master.zip from git (wget --content-disposition https://codeload.github.com/Gnucash/gnucash/zip/${GNUCASH_VERSION} )
06:50:24 <sbluhm> I believe something generates those missing files for the public release? Let me check if they do exist in the release.
06:50:41 <CarwynNelson> when you say the official release package are you referring to the one at https://github.com/Gnucash/gnucash/releases ?
06:51:38 <sbluhm> actually from the Gnucash website. But I have just seen that the CMakeLists.txt has been modified a few days ago. So maybe these files were added
06:53:03 <sbluhm> ok, let me dig a bit more to see what is going on. I thought this was just an obvious issue when building
06:55:15 *** fabior has joined #gnucash
06:57:58 <sbluhm> ok, so https://github.com/Gnucash/gnucash/releases/download/3.7/gnucash-3.7.tar.gz contains the file common/test-core/swig-unittest-support-python.c. The git repository here doesn't: https://github.com/Gnucash/gnucash/tree/3.7/common/test-core. Guess the question is, where does it come from/how would I generate it?

08:58:25 <gjanssens> sbluhm: the gnucash build system isn't designed to work with a tarball or zip extracted from github
08:58:46 <gjanssens> Either clone the repository or work from a release tarball.
08:59:57 <sbluhm> gjanssens: ok, Thank you. I will try that. I thought that would be exactly the same...
09:01:54 <gjanssens> No. The build system needs the git repository details to generate a number of files.
09:02:08 <gjanssens> Those generated files will be added to the release tarballs
09:02:28 <sbluhm> thank you, I can confirm it working. That saved me a lot more time
09:02:44 <gjanssens> And the missing tool would have been 'swig'
09:03:23 <gjanssens> As it's now working, you probably did have that installed after all.
09:03:29 <sbluhm> yeah that is what I assumed but couldn't find how to reference it in
09:03:44 <sbluhm> yeah, it was installed. Assumed that it couldn't find the path or so. So was playing with that
09:04:23 *** fabior has joined #gnucash
09:04:27 <gjanssens> Note we have been discussing recently to improve this situation for master, though I don't think it's actually implemented already
09:04:48 <gjanssens> There are two aspects that have been historically intermingled:
09:04:55 *** KevinDB has quit IRC
09:04:58 <gjanssens> * extracting the proper version details from a git repo
09:05:20 <gjanssens> * generating interface files via swig for python and guile
09:05:51 <gjanssens> Both were tied historically to the presence of a full git clone (and svn checkout before that)
09:05:59 <gjanssens> But only the first one really needs it
09:06:12 *** KevinDB has joined #gnucash
09:06:12 *** ChanServ sets mode: +v KevinDB
09:06:41 <gjanssens> Back then swig was considered a potential road block for those not deeply involved in the project
09:06:48 <sbluhm> ok, thanks for the background. A bit above my technical knowledge but will have a look at it.
09:06:52 <sbluhm> :)
09:07:21 <gjanssens> For that reason it was only enabled for developer builds and the results were just wrapped up in the release tarballl
09:07:58 <sbluhm> how do you generate the release tarball? is there a script?
09:08:08 <gjanssens> In practise though we experience very little issues that are directly related to swig, so we plan to just activate the swig step everywhere
09:08:09 <sbluhm> This is what I was trying to figure out earlier on
09:08:27 <gjanssens> It doesn't depend on the presence of a git repo at all.
09:09:12 <gjanssens> Only the version extraction needs different handling based on whether there's a git repo available or not.
09:10:12 <gjanssens> And there we plan to set the version to something blatantly clearly not git extracted if not starting from a git repo (and not using a release tarball).
09:10:26 <gjanssens> Anyway all still TBD

09:33:42 <warlord> .
09:34:15 <gjanssens> chris: I believe fell preferred correct strings over translated strings. If he concurs I'm ok with it as well
09:35:32 <chris> ok i'll review and merge in maint.
09:37:28 <fell> chris: It is always better to fix them ASAP. Only 2 weeks before a release we should avoid string changes to give the translators a chance to have a complete translation.
09:41:54 <fell> I have broken that rule recently because of the UTF errors by completly translated "Reconciled:R" strings.

I'm not sure why clang was happy with it not being there. 16:05:26 <gjanssens> chris: kdiff3 works wonders as a git mergetool
16:06:04 <gjanssens> There was only one conflict left it couldn't resolve by itself and needed my manual resolution.
16:06:45 <gjanssens> I have yet to see it make a faulty merge having used it on several occasions.
16:08:17 * gjanssens is now testing the merge

21:49:18 <fell> jralls: IMHO we should build the windows nightlies with the recent aqb/gwen betas.
21:51:20 <fell> A. For testing, where gnucash fails with it. B: solve problems for many FinTS users.

23:47:54 <fell> Hm, I just created a PR for above, but it is incomplete. There are also new security media in Libchipcard (5.1.3beta), but this is no longer on SF.
