10:12:51 <fell> gjanssens, while https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Build_Tools#Autotools explains the initial 3 steps, the CMake section is only propaganda.
10:13:39 <fell> I tried to verify, a translator can st up a build system.

10:18:36 <gjanssens> Personally I'd prefer both sections to refer to more elaborate build instructions rather than putting something minimal in place.
10:19:02 <fell> I believe, https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/index.php?title=CMake&oldid=14008 is the missing part.
10:19:27 <gjanssens> If the user follows the initial 3 steps for documentation builds, s/he gets an in-tree build, making it very hard to manage updates or start over.
10:19:44 <fell> I do not remember, who asked me to replace it with a redirect.
10:20:49 *** oozer has quit IRC
10:23:45 <gjanssens> Hmm, I agree some info has gone missing there. It would be useful to list the gnucash own cmake modifiers somewhere
10:24:18 <gjanssens> I would put this somewhere in the actual build instructions though, not on the more generic build-tools page.

10:25:53 <gjanssens> Perhaps something to discuss with David Coussens
10:26:37 <gjanssens> He has spent much effort recently to update the build instructions
10:28:47 <fell> For now I reverted my replacement, but some links may be wrong.

17:23:08 <sunbird> greetings all! i'm a longtime gnucash user and just upgraded to 3.4 when i upgraded my machine from debian 9-->10.
17:23:13 <sunbird> on one of my accounts, i cannot seem to import a qfx file. all the other accounts work fine, but when i try this one it just loads a blank page.
17:23:16 <sunbird> any ideas?
17:32:51 <sunbird> i'll be afk but will check back here later. thx!
17:46:32 <jralls> sunbird: Do you mean that the matcher page is blank after the import? That would mean that it didn't find any new transactions to import. That in turn means either that you've already imported those transactions or that that bank is reusing transaction numbers (the OFX field FITID).

20:28:40 <ShaunKL> Hello, I am setting up GNUCash for the first time. I have been reading the documentation, all the way through to chapter 2.8 and I don't quite understand how I add an initial balance to my wallet, for example.
20:43:19 <warlord> ShaunKL, an opening balance is just a regular transaction between the target account (e.g. Bank or Cash) and an Equity:Opening Balances account.
20:53:37 <ShaunKL> Thanks Warlord, so I add a figure to my Opening Balances account to fill in my current balances in assets. What do I do with the Opening Balances account once everything is filled in? If this is in a section of the tutorial, I don't mind being directed to it. I'm trying to wrap my head around a lot of these concepts for the first time.

21:11:30 <ShaunKL> I found where I can export my bank data for this year into a file I can import into GNUCash. I'm going to experiment and see which filetype imports the neatest.
21:16:53 <warlord> ShaunKL, you leave it there. Eq:O-B shows you your positions when you "started accounting". It's a fixed point in time.
21:23:43 <ShaunKL> Warlord, so if I want it to be accurate to the start of this year, that number should be my total balance across all my accounts starting from Jan 1, 2019?
