03:22:43 <chris> the install dir has lib/*.so so I guess there will be guile bindings available soon?

03:43:09 <gour> morning
03:43:57 <gour> i've settled on Debian Buster (testing), but plan to remain on stable after Buster release, which probably means 3.4. what is my prospect of getting (envelope) budgeting in GC and reports in general?
03:44:11 * gour has to (finally) setup his budgets

10:35:41 <gour> gjanssens: ok, it doesn't matter. tried few times to migrate to (h)ledger, but always coming back to GC which is vastly superior (and more productive) when it comes to both entering data & reconcilation. the only sour feature i miss from hledger is its support for envelope-budgeting (https://hledger.org/Budgeting-and-forecasting.html) so have to think how to do it with GC - iirc, chris was
10:35:43 <gour> doing some work in regard, so have to resume on that...so, guile/scheme will stay for some more time :-)

13:56:41 <chris> gour: if you wish development in a particular area, you *must* state the case strongly especially in -devel -- and trash out as much technical detail as you can. it's pointless stating a wishlist without boundaries, or say 'do like quicken' or 'do like hledger'... we have no time nor inclination to research the competition
13:58:13 <chris> I'm not really interested in making envelope budgeting happen... because I don't need it. I can do some scheme bits if needed, but a lot of UI work will be in C which is off my plate, hence I won't do.
13:59:02 <chris> Hence I'd encourage detailed spec, and discussion in devel.

22:04:02 <chris> gjanssens: in report.scm I wonder if we should rename gnc:define-report to gnc:define-report-template -- this is for consistency with other terminology
22:04:39 <chris> @tell gjanssens in report.scm I wonder if we should rename gnc:define-report to gnc:define-report-template -- this is for consistency with other terminology. with backward-compatibility of course.

22:41:51 <chris> @tell gjanssens - guile-2.0 has srfi-9 records which is a nicer implementation of records... in 1 call, define record fields, constructor, getters/setters. this may be an idea to streamline many modules. i won't make changes yet.
22:41:51 <gncbot> chris: The operation succeeded.
22:49:44 <chris> @tell gjanssens - srfi-9 are considered preferable
