00:45:37 <peanutbutterandcrackers> Does anyone here know how one could change the date-system in a program like GNUCash? As in, changing the date system from AD to use, say, Jewish Calender, or the Lunar calender systems from around the world. It would be preferable if this could be done in the reports, rather. Any ideas?

08:20:36 <Wilsona> Windows 8.1 & 2008 server.

08:21:28 <Wilsona> mmmmm
08:21:42 <jralls> Try the latest nightly from https://code.gnucash.org/builds/win32/maint
08:21:56 <Wilsona> but reading this.... i don't see nothing about negative symbol... only comm vs dot.....
08:22:53 <Wilsona> Any way... my installation is in English, and for currency to €, because since 3.4 Spanish Crash my GNU....
08:23:52 <Wilsona> Ok, any way, I goning to apply this new main.....
08:23:59 <jralls> How did you set English?
08:24:08 <Wilsona> Deafult..... ;-)
08:24:18 <Wilsona> enviroment default.
08:24:46 <Wilsona> If I apply language Spanish GNUcrash when record somwthing.....
08:24:47 <jralls> You mean for the whole computer or using c:/Program Files (x86)/gnucash/etc/gnucash/environment?
08:25:01 <Wilsona> environment file
08:25:03 <Wilsona> yeah
08:25:25 <jralls> That was part of the problem, should be fixed as well.
08:25:33 <Wilsona> I think I was speaking with you about you 3 month ago?.... perhaps?
08:25:51 <jralls> Maybe, don't remember.
08:26:01 <chris> Wilsona: the latest maint should fix a lot of language issues in Windows
08:26:33 <Wilsona> ok.... I apply now the new maint.....
08:26:39 <Wilsona> 1 minute i chek it... ;-)
08:27:02 <jralls> As for negative amounts they should have a sign or parentheses as well as being colored red.
08:28:19 <Wilsona> by default it apply negative amounts sign or parentheses?
08:29:18 <jralls> In the register, only - sign. Parentheses is an option on some reports.
08:29:49 <Wilsona> but in the account screens?
08:30:03 <jralls> That's the register.
08:30:45 <Wilsona> Labeled than "account", the principal?
08:31:00 <Wilsona> no - sing o parentheses..... :-(
08:31:11 <jralls> Sorry, what?
08:31:30 <Wilsona> jjja... sorry, I sure my english is not good.....
08:31:48 <jralls> It's better than my Spanish!
08:31:50 <Wilsona> Well...... The principal account screen is that you refer "Register"?
08:32:03 <Wilsona> where are all account tree?
08:32:20 <jralls> Ah, no, that's the Accounts page, sometimes called the chart of accounts.
08:32:27 <Wilsona> ok......
08:32:55 <Wilsona> In chart account.... it's possible see negative values?
08:33:45 <jralls> Yes, of course, if you have a negative balance in an account. There's no option for parentheses there either.
08:34:21 <warlord> note also that there is a preference as to whether to invert certain normally-negative accounts.
08:36:07 <jralls> True, though which way is inverted depends on one's point of view. For an accountant a liability or equity account should show its normal balance positive, for a programmer negative.
08:36:11 <Wilsona> Ok, but now I only can see the red color in negative values....
08:36:43 <Wilsona> Yes I now.... but the values in red color must be see with negative too? no?
08:36:51 <jralls> Do you mean that you're seeing red numbers without a - sign?
08:37:00 <Wilsona> Yes....exactly
08:38:17 <jralls> That's odd. What kind of account?
08:38:51 <Wilsona> For example, and general account results......
08:39:01 <Wilsona> with negative results.... of course....
08:39:08 <Wilsona> Year with lost....

09:02:37 <gjanssens> Is your column wide enough to display the full amount ?
09:02:54 <jralls> Yes. It appears you've created a P&L account (Resultado) with annual sub-accounts that you selected when you ran "Close book". Is that right?
09:03:10 <Wilsona> yes... but black color and no - sing....
09:03:19 <Wilsona> Yes, size perfectly.....

09:04:31 <chris> Wilsona: and what happens if LANG is reset to English in environment?
09:05:13 <Wilsona> Well... if in English... because it's run the default enviroment file.
09:05:47 <Wilsona> I now checking with the last main set to spanish....
09:05:49 <Wilsona> 1 minute...
09:06:57 <chris> looks like English anyway from the statusbar
09:07:24 <Wilsona> "Statusbar"? Windows?
09:11:08 <chris> I don't think we can tell from the screenshot why the red amount doesn't have negative sign. There must be something really odd in your Windows, your build, your environment, or your datafile. From all our knowledge, negative-number = red = negative-sign.
09:11:56 <Wilsona> mmm, well, but not is my computer... in the server or other terminals it's the same.
09:12:16 <Wilsona> 8.1, 2008 server... etc... etc..
09:12:59 <chris> I've used on W7 and W10 no issues
09:13:55 <chris> don't think any of the devs have 8.1 or 2008server to test
09:14:09 <Wilsona> mmm.. super... with this new maint... no problem using spanish....... !!!!!
09:14:39 <Wilsona> in my first try one record.....
09:14:42 <chris> so, perhaps when you've done enough experiments you can submit a bug report *and* the solution

09:18:28 <Wilsona> but now, with the new maint, change to spanish evrething is allraigth.
09:18:51 <Wilsona> I think it must be relation with the locale or force.....
09:19:01 <warlord> There COULD be a locale bug.
09:19:06 <Wilsona> but i don't know exacly.....
09:19:19 <Wilsona> I only do the change in the server......
09:19:31 <Wilsona> 1 minute... i go to change in a 8.1
09:19:36 <Wilsona> ...
09:23:18 <chris> gjanssens fell warlord any objection to merging the latest balsheet-pnl as it is? I don't think there's much to be gained by separating the (let* vars ...) into individual (define)s. in many ways using (define) will lead to more spaghetti code because (let* vars ...) are built incrementally top-to-bottom.
09:24:34 <gjanssens> chris: no objection from me, provided it produces correct results
09:26:16 <chris> ok it'll be in Reports>Experimental submenu
09:26:49 <chris> and I'll squash the whole history.
09:28:32 <gjanssens> That's fine
09:28:37 <warlord> chris, let is a perfectly reasonable scheme structure.
09:29:07 <fell> No objection here.
09:33:03 <Wilsona> And then too, if I set spanish language in enviroment file not crash when you introduce a new record.
09:33:26 <chris> balsheet-pnl: adds the moderately complicated (add-multicolumn-acct-table) function which could be reused by other reports. I will *try* convert an existing report to demonstrate code reuse; budget.scm is a good candidate.
09:33:28 <Wilsona> The version it is in the regular download have this problems.
09:33:48 <chris> Wilsona: it means the next version 3.6 due in less than 2 months will be fixed
09:34:17 <Wilsona> Super......! You are a good team! ;-)
09:35:04 <Wilsona> I sent to the team a donation for the today solution!!!!!.....

20:19:42 <CDB-Man_> [2019.05.08 06:31:09] <warlord> CDB-Man_, actually, it looks like there is an invalid value in the pricedb for microsoft..
20:19:42 <CDB-Man_> warlord: yes, all the quotes are valid and only auto quotes from Finance::Quote are in the priceDB. I have 3 Microsoft GL accounts but only 1 of them throws the error, because only 1 of them has a blank $ value... that being said, manually re-typing the quote in quoteDB seems to have fixed it?
