05:42:46 <chris> jralls what do you think if we were to maintain a 'Release 3.4 notes' on wiki for users... we can keep this document live and add a link from the formal release emails. This could hold common release issues, fixed bugs, notable improvements.
05:43:56 <chris> or perhaps easier I just modify https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Release_Schedule table-cells directly
05:50:51 <chris> or perhaps we maintain a file 'release-draft.txt' which gets converted to release-notes at the time of release?
05:51:19 <chris> (any of above will supplement the usual release process)
05:51:37 *** jotrago has joined #gnucash
05:52:15 <chris> example: "v3.4 an error in invoice.scm layout present in v3.3 is fixed, which may necessitate reverting Display/Title checkbox back to 'true' in saved reports"
05:58:28 *** fabior has quit IRC
05:59:15 <fell> Chris: I had done it the other way as I think an invoice without number is invald.
05:59:46 *** jotrago has quit IRC
06:00:06 <fell> .. and nice for gjanssens: one option button less. ;-)
06:11:35 <chris> fell: well v3.3 has printable-invoice displaying "Invoice #001" twice by default which is a layout bug. I intend to fix this in 3.3 so that the default is "Invoice #001" displayed, but can be disabled.
06:12:51 <chris> unfortunately we can't remove an option because saved-reports will try to set an option, and I suspect running a saved-report which tries to set a deleted option results in a crash
06:12:52 <fell> I can not imagine a situation, where it should be disabled.
06:13:11 <chris> agree but i still wish to remove the duplicated line
06:13:30 <fell> Good question!
06:13:48 <fell> I don't know.
06:17:36 <chris> moreover, mea culpa, toggling the display of invoice-title is a new option introduced during merging of invoices
06:24:54 <chris> hmmm i've just tested re-running a report when an option is *removed* - no crash
06:25:14 <chris> i.e. saved-report tries to set an option which doesn't exist anymore, does not lead to report crash
06:25:45 <chris> so, the dilemma is now whether to remove the duplicate invoice-title "Invoice #001" and also remove the option or not

06:29:23 *** Jimraehl1 has left #gnucash
06:33:23 <gjanssens> chris: you can easily test if a non-existing option will lead to a report crash or only a warning...
06:34:11 <chris> I just did --> no crash at all
06:34:36 <gjanssens> As for the release not message: in the past we more or less agreed any notes that should be added to the release notes should be added to the commit message
06:35:03 <gjanssens> To make our release manager aware of it, prefix it with "Release Note"
06:35:21 <chris> ok
06:35:25 <gjanssens> As there's not crash at all I think you can safely remove the superfluous option, no ?
06:35:38 <chris> yes i think i'll remove it

07:53:41 <jralls> chris: If there's something you want to make sure gets in the release notes or if it's a long message and you want it summarized a particular way, mark it up in some way for me.

08:25:47 <warlord> We are still working on the plans!!!!!!!!!!
08:26:07 <warlord> In fact, I just found a bug in the plans a few minutes ago and sent it to the architect to confirm.
08:26:32 <warlord> If my finding is correct, it will change the footprint, which then means we need to go back to the Site Plan Engineer to get THAT corrected...

11:10:59 <chris> I think my balsheet-pnl is ready for wider testing -- its price sources (weighted-average average-cost etc) seem reasonably match the old balsheet; except it doesn't calculate unrealized/trading gains/losses.

18:15:32 <VaporLock> I need to change my PIN after first log in. Not sure if this is a GnuCash, Aqbanking, or OFXdirectconnect issue. But I do not see that I am allowed to change the PIN after logging in
18:19:44 <VaporLock> Second question: "OFX DirectConnect information download" here https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/OFX_Direct_Connect_Bank_Settings is not working because jongsma.org is not responding. Any new info on getting the OFX information?
18:21:18 *** User has quit IRC
18:25:51 <jralls> VaporLock: Please explain this PIN-change issue in more detail.
18:27:07 <jralls> VaporLock: As for jongsma.org, they're in DNS, it just looks like their webserver is down ATM. Whether the script is still there is another matter entirely.
18:28:18 <jralls> VaporLock: I think that the best source of OFX-DirectConnect info is currently ofxhome.org, linked at the top of the page. AQBanking uses that for the automatic bank info setup.

19:39:43 <VaporLock> jralls: I bank with SunTrust. They issue a PIN for use when downloading OFX data (instead of the password used for their website). The issued PIN is temporary and must be changed on first use. Apparently, when using Quicken to download data, Quicken will ask you for a new PIN. GnuCash (or Aqbanking or ofxdirectconnect) does not do this.
19:42:48 <VaporLock> jralls: The info at https://ofxblog.wordpress.com/?s=suntrust notes that the PIN can be changed "through OFX services", but I have not discovered how to do that with GnuCash
