10:23:28 <Pupeno> Probably a stupid question: Are liabilities shown as positive numbers when I owe money?

10:39:46 <zipppy> Pupeno: yes
10:41:22 <sixwheeledbeast> When adding new customers I wish Gnucash would not ignore capitalisation for it's auto correct

10:42:25 <sixwheeledbeast> IE; PLACENAME would autocorrect to Placename even tho I have typed PL

10:48:27 <Pupeno> How do I combine transactions in two accounts as one being a transfer to the other?
10:51:18 *** Mechtilde has quit IRC
10:54:03 <Pupeno> I imported both from accounts from a ofx file, so, I have the transactions on both accounts.
10:58:05 <lmat> Pupeno: I'm not sure I follow. You have a transaction with two splits: one cr Account A, one dr Account B?
10:58:57 <Pupeno> I have two transactions, one in account a, one in account b, where it should be the same transaction, as I transfer money from account b to account a. I have two because I imported both accounts from their respective ofx files.
11:00:34 <lmat> Pupeno: Every transaction has at least two splits. The transaction in account A, which account has the other split?
11:01:04 <Pupeno> Imbalance-GBP
11:01:07 <lmat> Pupeno: Without more information, it sounds like what I would do is modify one of the transactions to do what you want it to do (add a split for Account B to the transaction implicating Account A), then delete the other transaction.
11:01:12 <lmat> Pupeno: Ah yes. Modify one, delete the other.
11:01:25 <lmat> Pupeno: In Account A, change Imbalance-GBP to Account B. Delete the other transaction.
11:01:40 <Pupeno> There's no way to take two transactions and turn them into the two splits of one transaction then.
11:02:05 <lmat> Pupeno: Nothing automatic of which I'm aware.
11:02:32 <Pupeno> Will deleting a transaction make gnucash re-import it, if it's included in another ofx?
11:02:33 <lmat> Pupeno: Of course if there were a way, it would take the two splits from *each* transaction and create a new 4-split transaction, but I know of no way to do this "automatically".
11:03:31 <lmat> Pupeno: Excellent question....I don't import transactions, so I'm not the right guy for this one :-)
11:03:47 <Pupeno> Mhhh... ok. I wonder if I'm doing something wrong, because this seems error prone and common in my workflow.
11:04:43 <Pupeno> Moving money to savings accounts, paying credit cards, there are many cases I would have to deal with monthly.

13:50:45 * gjanssens fixed a few more memory leaks today.
13:51:33 <gjanssens> Just starting gnucash with a huge book and quitting once loaded (no registers got opened) reduced the memory leak from about 115Mb to 8Mb.
13:52:20 <gjanssens> Most fixes are in low level functions which will probably also reduce the number of leaks in further gnucash usage.
13:53:05 <gjanssens> The KvpValue one is tricky though as fixing the leak immediately made a few tests abort on invalid g_free invocations.
13:53:43 <gjanssens> They were all due to incorrect KvpValue instantiation (from a stack based const char* instead of a heap allocated one as the KvpValue comments indicate)
13:54:10 <gjanssens> These were easy to fix. I also went through the code looking for other cases like this.
13:54:38 <gjanssens> I hope I caught them all though. Otherwise we're in for a few crash reports when 3.3 gets out :(

15:44:19 <pidgin1776> is there a way to set the current working file for a backdated year, i.e. 2013. i am working on re-filing for 2013 and i made the adjustments in the preferences but when i add an entry it always uses the current date
