00:19:33 * chris after current round, i'll eliminate gnc-numeric-* from .scm
00:27:42 * chris also wondering if test-lots deserves to take 20s every time - it doesn't seem to be complete - it creates 320 transactions but doesn't test the unrealized-gains - if we shorten it to (say,) 30 transactions it completes in 1s instead of 20s.....

12:54:50 <CharlesIC> hi
12:55:02 <CharlesIC> im going to be away from home for an extended period of time, and need to use gnucas on another computer
12:55:06 <CharlesIC> i was wondering what file stores invoices?
13:01:01 <gjanssens> This is all stored in your data file. https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/FAQ#Q:_Where_is_my_GnuCash_data_file.3F
13:05:54 *** gour_ has joined #gnucash
13:06:36 <CharlesIC> for that particular account?
13:06:42 <CharlesIC> the xml file for that account?
13:07:02 <CharlesIC> err book
13:08:06 *** gour has quit IRC
13:09:18 <gjanssens> Well, to be sure what do you mean exactly with what file stores invoices ?
13:09:36 <CharlesIC> i mean like for a certain book
13:09:46 <CharlesIC> a certain .gnucash book
13:09:53 <CharlesIC> i have various invoices associated with taht .gnucash
13:11:07 <gjanssens> Ah. Do you mean you have added file associations to various transactions ?
13:11:22 *** harshitaneja has quit IRC
13:11:36 <CharlesIC> i mean im transferring gnucas to another machine
13:12:06 <gjanssens> I got that, I'm trying to understand you starting situation.
13:12:14 *** harshitaneja has joined #gnucash
13:13:37 *** gour_ is now known as gour
13:13:42 <gjanssens> So these invoices are separate documents that you associated with transactions in gnucash via (Associate file) and you want these to be available on your other machine ?
13:14:09 <CharlesIC> i have no idea
13:14:11 <CharlesIC> i just create invoice
13:14:17 <CharlesIC> and i have them for the last few years
13:14:21 <CharlesIC> i just want to know where they are located
13:14:49 <gjanssens> I don't understand what you are asking.
13:15:01 <CharlesIC> i have a .gnucash file for my business
13:15:05 <CharlesIC> i constantly create invoices
13:15:10 <gjanssens> How did you create them ?
13:15:14 <CharlesIC> when i have that .gnucash file open
13:15:23 <CharlesIC> biz, customer, new invoice
13:15:26 <gjanssens> Ok
13:15:28 <CharlesIC> is it included in the .gnucash file?
13:15:32 <CharlesIC> along with customer list?
13:15:43 <gjanssens> In that case your invoices are inside your gnucash data file.
13:15:49 <CharlesIC> ok thanks
13:15:57 <gjanssens> np
13:15:57 <CharlesIC> so really i just need to transfer those and my stylesheets
13:16:16 <gjanssens> likely
13:16:34 <gjanssens> Unless you have also saved report presets for your particular invoices
13:16:52 <gjanssens> In that case you also should transfer your saved-reports-x.y file

13:48:43 <StupendousMan> Good Afternoon (or whatever time of day it is where you are at) are there any developers here ATM?
13:53:17 <Mechtilde_> what is your question? StupendousMan
13:59:24 *** harshitaneja has quit IRC
13:59:41 <StupendousMan> hi
14:00:07 <StupendousMan> well I suppose what's the easiest way to request a feature and a bug?
14:00:54 <StupendousMan> I can quickly explain it to a dev and I think the feature would take 10 to 30 minutes to implement and the bug is easy to understand but may require more work
14:01:48 <Mechtilde_> https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Bugzilla shows the description how to create a bug report
14:02:03 <StupendousMan> does that also work for feature requests?
14:02:08 <Mechtilde_> yes
14:02:21 <StupendousMan> cool, are you a developer?
14:03:07 <Mechtilde_> it depends on your requested feature
14:04:26 <StupendousMan> The feature is simple, I've been using GnuCash for 5 or so years.. maybe longer and was kinda waiting for the feature to just happen. but it's now made it to windows 10 and EOL for windows XP and it still hasn't made it in
14:05:07 <StupendousMan> simply put, like just about every web browser that uses tab add the feature to "Close" the tab using the "Middle Mouse Button" i.e. the Scroll wheel Click
14:05:43 <StupendousMan> this is something that's somewhat of a defacto standard for any tab based software
14:06:00 <StupendousMan> and I can't seem to find an option to turn it on.. so I assume it's missing
14:07:17 *** harshitaneja has joined #gnucash
14:07:18 <StupendousMan> the bug is related to the resizing of the "Description" Column in the register. It does not let me Shrink it. (i'm a windows user so I cannot attest to this problem under linux right now)
14:08:42 <Mechtilde_> so waht do you want?
14:09:03 <Mechtilde_> you want to resize a column of an account?
14:09:30 <Mechtilde_> e.g the description column?
14:09:53 <StupendousMan> well, i mean while in the register view
14:10:20 <StupendousMan> i'm looking at columns Date/num/description/transfer/payment/charge/balance
14:10:21 <StupendousMan> right
14:11:36 <Mechtilde_> you can resize the width of an column
14:11:54 <Mechtilde_> with the mouse
14:12:01 <StupendousMan> I can resize all the column widths to see more information EXCEPT for description.. it seems to want to Fit the Balance, charge, R, and Transfer columns all the way to the right of the entire window..
14:12:30 <StupendousMan> which is fine. .but i've had it where I can't extend the last column.. this behavior is not limited to the register either..
14:13:05 <StupendousMan> when editing the transaction wizard formulas.. I can't stretch the last column to see the whole formula
14:14:04 <Mechtilde_> you are in the register view or in the formular view?
14:14:38 <Mechtilde_> in the register view you can change the width of all columns
14:15:22 <StupendousMan> Description and Transfer are adjacent to each other right now in my register view
14:15:58 <StupendousMan> if I drag the column separator to the left .. it does Nothing
14:16:21 <StupendousMan> what I would expect to happen is the Transfer column get huge and the description column get small
14:16:28 <Mechtilde_> minimize the window to left an then try again
14:17:06 <StupendousMan> the width of the description column is controlled by the Overall width of the application
14:17:09 <StupendousMan> like an auto fit
14:17:36 <StupendousMan> which is fine.. proportionally but if I want to make the proportion of Description and transfer a different size it does not work
14:18:34 <Mechtilde_> then you have first to minimize the tranfer column from the right side
14:18:34 <StupendousMan> it's weird because I can "Grow" it and create the need to scroll left and right.. but I cannot shrink it beyond some proportional bounds determined by the window size
14:18:44 <Mechtilde_> then you have first to minimize the tranfer column from the right side
14:20:43 <StupendousMan> Right side.. size watch it auto snap, see if that's what I want.. left side slide to to re-adjust, back to the right push it out again.. auto snap see if that's what I want.... like 2 to 5 operations of playing with the columns to accomplish what should take 1
14:21:49 <StupendousMan> and actually to accomplish what I wanted I have to make the "Transfer" column larger... to make the descriptions smaller..
14:22:08 <StupendousMan> that operations should be accomplished by just moving the divider between the columns
14:22:11 <StupendousMan> but it's not
14:22:59 <Mechtilde_> between transfer and adjust
14:23:14 <StupendousMan> ?
14:23:22 <StupendousMan> Descriptions and Transfer
14:23:24 <Mechtilde_> NOT between description and transfer
14:27:31 <gjanssens> fell, jralls: fyi my mailserver died about 2 hours ago (or more precisely the vm fails to restart after an update)

14:54:25 <WebManOfFesto1> - Locale doesn't seem to be the problem: I bought my Android phone new at a local T-Mobile store in the US. I tried to find "locale" under settings, I didn't find exactly that, but it seems to be USA locale, and uses the MM-DD-YYYY format.
14:54:25 <WebManOfFesto1> - I'd say the MM-DD-YYYY is the likely "format" problem. I also like to use 23:00 instead of 11:00 pm.
