02:31:39 <aj> hi, had a question about recording bonus shares
02:31:45 <gjanssens> .
02:31:45 <gncbot> gjanssens: Sent 9 hours and 15 minutes ago: <warlord> For some reason, since I moved my machines, when the network goes down for any reason (there is apparently one more piece of Comcrap equipment that I need to get onto a UPS) gncbot fails to reconnect. I have no idea what's going on, other than that I'm running a very old version of supybot. I should probably consider upgrading code from F25 to F28 and when I do this also upgrade gncbot to limnoria.
02:31:46 <gncbot> gjanssens: Sent 9 hours and 14 minutes ago: <warlord> As for the FavIcon -- I'll do that tomorrow.
02:42:29 <aj> did it using "Stock Split" action, but when I try to Reconcile that account it shows the added stocks on both side in the reconciliation window
02:43:07 <aj> does anyone have any suggestions on how to do it correctly?

14:36:42 <jralls> dvapa2006: There's nothing beyond the stylesheets built-in. Sure, you can hire a programmer to do it for you but we don't have any vehicle for doing so at gnucash.org.

14:47:56 <warlord> jralls: are you at 24.6.45.99? I see two requests for the favicon at 14:33 and 14:35 from that IP. Strangely, my request at 14:33 worked just fine.

15:17:45 <warlord> Missing the 'd', you can see my confusion.
15:18:00 <gjanssens> Hmm, perhaps I should have named the directory differently...
15:18:34 <gjanssens> However all image in that directory are created to serve as favicons in one context or another.

16:16:30 <boldstripe> Happy to find debian packages for gnucash v3.2 at this URL http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/pool/main/g/gnucash/
16:17:17 <boldstripe> Requires installation of gnucash-common, gnucash and python3-gnucash
16:18:03 <boldstripe> ... using an installer like GDebi Package Installer (if not yet in main debian distribution)
16:18:37 <warlord> boldstripe: are you saying that "gnucash" does not depend on "gnucash-common"?
16:19:53 <boldstripe> Well I installed gnucash-common first (just worked my way down the alphetically-sorted list)
16:20:44 <warlord> You didn't just "apt-get install gnucash"?
16:20:56 <warlord> python3-gnucash is certainly separate.
16:22:46 <boldstripe> For some reason my Debian package managers no longer show gnucash at all. This happened shortly after I removed the package-installed version using 'purge', and I don't know how to make the official package managers show new files. In any case, the repository in the URL for Debian is often ahead of the official distribution for some reason.
16:24:13 <warlord> Have you tried apt-get update ?
16:24:58 <boldstripe> Yes. I am on the 'buster' branch of Debian, so I run that once a day (actually 'sudo apt dist-upgrade' is what I run).
16:25:45 <gjanssens> boldstripe: gnucash 2.6 has likely been dropped from debian because if its dependency on gtkwebkit1
16:26:06 <gjanssens> It may be gnucash 3.0 was not ready in time to make it in the next major debian release
16:26:52 <jralls> That's Debian testing, which IIRC is "buster". The current Debian stable, stretch, does have GnuCash 2.6 and Debian unstable, "sid", has GnuCash 3.2.
16:27:51 <boldstripe> So, now when I run a package manager (I just tried Synaptic) I *do* see all the 3.2 Gnucash packages. But, to be honest, I assumed the non-appearance of Gnucash in my package managers was because of something I did wrong :-)
16:28:04 *** fabior has joined #gnucash
16:29:02 <boldstripe> @jralls yes, I am on 'testing' Debian
16:29:02 <gncbot> boldstripe: Error: "jralls" is not a valid command.
16:30:16 <boldstripe> But, as I say, someone is putting relatively recent Gnucash deb packages at the URL I give above, and it seems to be on a separate cycle to the appearance of these versions in Debian package manager(s).
16:32:27 <boldstripe> One other detail, I needed to remove the cmake-installed v3.1 before my system would 'see' the GDebi-installed v3.2. I followed the recipe given on this page by qwertzguy https://stackoverflow.com/questions/41471620/cmake-support-make-uninstall#44649542
16:32:50 <jralls> "Someone" is Dmitry Smirnov, the Debian packager, but it's for sid, not buster. It shouldn't appear in Synaptic unless you've added "unstable" to /etc/apt/sources.list.
16:33:21 <jralls> And if you did that you're not really running buster.
16:34:26 *** User has quit IRC

16:37:08 <boldstripe> I only have 'buster' in my sources list, no 'unstable' in sources.list or sources.list.d
16:37:47 <boldstripe> Maybe Synaptic (apt) somehow knows that GDebi installed Gnucash packages, so presents them?

16:45:05 <jralls> boldstripe: Your installing the debs from GDebi probably did update the dpackage database and Synaptic is reflecting that.
