00:00:47 <chris> I plan to write a scheme options stress test - both optimized combinations (using rgmerk's jenny) and comprehensive (using A-level permutations)

05:07:11 <finster> hello. where can i find a changelog for the new 3.2 gnucash release?
05:13:22 <finster> One more question: if gnucash decides to autocomplete a description for a transaction and the completion is not what i want/need, is there a shortcut to remove the completed text after the cursor? Like Ctrl-k under Emacs. I'd rather not press the Delete key until all text is removed.

10:22:27 <finster> i'm coming to the conclusion that the completion part should be highlighted, just as it used to be. is there a way to control that behaviour?
10:25:16 <finster> oh, i'm talking about gnucash 3.2 on osx

13:29:00 <Robert8471> I am trying to set up finance::quote in Ubuntu 16.04 for GnuCash 2.6.something and I am not finding the right help in GnuCash.org FAQ
13:30:20 <Robert8471> I think I got F::Q updated to 1.4.3 or so, but now I cannot find out how to get Alphavantage configured
13:34:29 <Robert8471> FQ 1.47 GnuCash 2.6.17 so far but no Alphavantage
13:35:15 <Robert8471> where are the instructions how to configure it
13:35:25 <Robert8471> I have the key

13:45:59 <jralls> finster: The formal ChangeLog is only in the tarball. You can get the same raw information from git log in a checked-out repository or from https://github.com/Gnucash/gnucash/commits/maint.
13:47:19 <jralls> finster: The easiest way is to type an unsaved character and then backspace it.
13:50:55 <jralls> Robert8471: https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/FAQ#Q:_Why_doesn.27t_online_quoting_work.3F
14:00:48 <finster> jralls: so there are no plans to revert to the old behaviour?
14:01:11 <jralls> finster: What old behavior is that?
14:01:21 <Robert8471> oh! I already have the key installed in this machine. However, the update prices button just causes GnuCash to think for a couple of seconds then returns Unable to retrieve quotes for a few currencies while saying nothing about all the stock prices that it used to get
14:02:00 <finster> jralls: that the to-be-completed text is highlighted (like you would do with the mouse). the effect is that the to-be-completed text can be remove en bloc
14:02:14 <finster> let me see if i can make up some quick screen shots
14:02:20 <jralls> Robert8471: Maybe Alphavantage has taken the day off? They're nowhere near as reliable as Yahoo! was.
14:03:11 <jralls> finster: Sounds like what someone reported on the user list this morning. I've seen it occasionally on some builds, but never consistently enough to trouble shoot.
14:03:27 <Robert8471> has anyone retrieved prices from Alphavantage lately?
14:03:57 <Robert8471> by lately I mean the last two or three weeks
14:04:36 <jralls> Robert: I haven't, but if it had been consistently down for 3 weeks there would have been whining on the mailing list.
14:05:38 <Robert8471> there has been some whining but I thought it was people like me that can't remember which machine is configured correctly
14:06:01 <finster> jralls: https://imgur.com/a/XM58SPf
14:06:45 <jralls> finster: Yeah, that matches what I've seen and what was reported. It's definitely a bug.
14:07:04 <finster> Okay
14:07:36 <jralls> And it's cooperating for me with 3.2, so maybe I can figure it out...
14:18:18 <jralls> Robert8471: Just did a quote retrieval. Twice. Got a bunch of "unable to retrieve" both times, but no overlap so I think I got everything between the two.
14:20:18 <Robert8471> That is what I saw several weeks ago but I forgot which machine got that far. I thought it was this one, but it had F:Q 1.38 on it when I first looked today
14:22:24 <Robert8471> I know that it is getting nothing because the asterisk does not appear in front of the filename

14:27:50 <Jeff72> Hi all, any idea how I should set the accounts for my family finance to be able to track how much was spent by me and how much was spent by my partner for the family and in the same time track how much each of us spent for our individual expenses?
14:31:08 <jralls> Jeff72: I suggest that you ask that on the mailing list. IRC doesn't work well for essays; besides there's a larger group to help you there.
14:31:47 <Jeff72> Thank you jralls, what's the address?
