14:20:31 <censor> hi all! i recently upgraded to MariaDB 10.2 and now it seems as if any changes to a book entry aren't saved anymore.
14:21:16 <censor> running gnucash 3.2, but it was the same with gnucash 3.1 (after i restored my database when it got dropped by that version, too)
14:21:20 <warlord> censor: what version of gnucash? What platform/OS
14:21:40 <warlord> is it a local server or a remote server?
14:22:12 <censor> gnucash 3.2 on win10 with a mariadb 10.2 on the local network. no errors in the mariadb logs
14:22:41 <warlord> It's possible that the client libs are incompatible
14:22:53 <censor> adding new book entries, either manually or from my online banking, still works
14:24:08 <warlord> censor: I dont understand -- do new entries get saved or not saved?
14:24:21 <warlord> Or what do you mean by "still works"?
14:24:50 <censor> i added a test entry, which got saved. but changing the account on an existing entry resets back when closing/opening gnucash
14:25:30 <censor> those older ones are booked to "Ausgleichskonto", so that default one. don't know the english translation
14:26:42 <warlord> Ah, so you can add new transactions but not change existing transactions?
14:27:01 <censor> it seems so, yes
14:27:01 <warlord> What happens if you try running 3.2 on a Linux or Mac platform against the same DB?
14:27:10 <warlord> (Can you try that?)
14:27:20 <censor> sorry, not possible :(
14:28:22 *** Mechtilde has quit IRC
14:29:06 <censor> IIRC, this was already the case with the 2.6.x i was running before, and that was also the reason i checked if there's a new version - which was 3.1, unfortunately
14:30:12 <warlord> Ah, so if 2.6 also had this issue then, most likely, the issue is an incompatibility with mariadb-10
14:30:46 <censor> yes, i had the same thought, that's why i opened with that line ;-)
14:31:13 <warlord> Can you downgrade your db server?
14:33:19 <censor> unfortunately also not an option because of other software using it, i could only upgrade to 10.3
14:34:47 <censor> i just synced my bank account, and the new transactions got matched to the correct account and survived a restart. the old ones still flip back
14:36:10 <warlord> Can you get a detailed SQL log to see why the UPDATE is failing?
14:36:26 <warlord> (I'm hoping jralls or gjanssens can chime in)
14:36:55 <censor> is there a way to log it client-side? on the db server i'd be sifting through thousands of line
14:37:09 <warlord> I honestly don't know.
14:37:45 <warlord> Can you file a bugzilla entry on this topic?

14:39:34 <censor> i'll have a look
14:40:06 <censor> ah, "--log gnc.backend.dbi=debug"
14:41:44 <warlord> that sounds right.
14:45:15 <censor> now if i'd know where those logs get saved...
14:45:28 <censor> not in the ".gnucash\translog" folder
14:45:48 <warlord> the Trace File
14:47:09 <censor> ah, found it https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Tracefile
14:47:33 <warlord> yeah
14:48:44 <censor> okay, got the queries
14:49:22 <warlord> And the error(s)?
14:49:31 <censor> no error
14:49:36 <warlord> Hmmm...
14:49:59 <censor> but i have the sneaking suspicion it has to do with the reconcile_date being set to '1970-01-01 00:00:00'
14:50:34 <warlord> Hmm. That could be a problem -- but not sure why it wouldn't throw an error if it IS an issue.

14:53:11 <warlord> includng the SQL log, if you can.
14:53:18 <censor> hmm, i have that disabled already, i just noticed

19:33:56 <Robert847> Hi, I have noticed in the Developers maillist that Christian Stimming is exploring ways to make GnuCash run faster. I have also noticed that in Windows in particular GnuCash seems to single thread everything, so having multiple processors is almost useless. Is it possible to restructure the code to take advantage of newer CPU?
