08:17:47 <chf> Yes, boldstripe, that means you're using a locally installed version, if apt says, your package is 3.0, this one says, it's 3.1 => installed twice, once wiht ait, once without.

09:11:43 <boldstripe> To tidy up, I 'removed' gnucash installations from both Aptitude and Synaptic (both showed 3.0-1 installed). Now is not even showing as an available package in either app, but perhaps that will correct itself over time.
