10:04:33 <chris> Reading through the spate of invoice errors reported, I wonder if the gncInvoiceIsPosted logic change is reponsible for the errors - it means there are some datafiles out there whereby unposted invoices have an associated posted AP/AR account.
10:54:27 *** ArtGravity has joined #gnucash
11:02:17 <gjanssens> chris: now you mention it - I do think this is flawed logic. Any invoice that gets posted once will always have a post account associated with it, even after unposting. This is kept internally to be able to propose the same post account to the user upon reposting. (I'm writing this from memory, I don't have time to read the code at this point).
11:02:59 <gjanssens> So I'm afraid moving away from HasPostDate was the wrong thing to do :(
11:03:22 <gjanssens> I won't have time to work on this until somewhere next week unfortunately...
11:35:18 *** Apfelgriebs has joined #gnucash
11:39:27 <Apfelgriebs> Hi! A while ago, I asked for help in building gnucash 2.6.19(?) and eventually succeeded.
11:39:35 <Apfelgriebs> Now I tried my luck with 3.0. "-- Checking for module 'gwenhywfar'-- No package 'gwenhywfar' found" But gwnhywfar is definitely installed... building worked with an earlier version. what am I missing?
11:46:57 *** NestorZ has joined #gnucash
11:53:21 <gjanssens> Apfelgriebs: you may need a more recent version of gwenhywfar. The version we required with gnucash 2.6.x only had gtk2 based gui's while for gnucash 3 we need gwenhywfar with gtk3 based gui's.
11:54:30 <gjanssens> You can also check whether you have installed the corresponding gwenhywfar devel package for your distribution (it may end in -dev or -devel depending on your distro)
11:54:35 <Apfelgriebs> gjanssens: thank you. unfortunately, I'm on linux mint and there is only gwenhywfar with gtk2 and qt4...
11:54:43 <Apfelgriebs> in the repository*
11:57:25 <gjanssens> Normally gnucash sources ship with updated gwenhywfar-gui source files bundled for this situation.
11:57:35 <gjanssens> Are you sure gwenhywfar-dev is installed ?
11:58:09 *** fekepp has joined #gnucash
11:58:55 <Trel> I lost my connection yesterday. Did anyone ever have a solution to the key combo to trigger the dropdown items (such as the date selector and account list) when adding at transaction in 3.0?
11:59:55 <Apfelgriebs> No, gwenhywfar-dev isn't installed. In fact, it doesn't appear to be available at all. Other -dev packages are. :-(
12:00:23 <Apfelgriebs> Now I wonder how I managed to build the last version a while ago.
12:02:28 *** Mechtilde has joined #gnucash
12:03:04 <gjanssens> I have no idea about mint specifics. Perhaps others on the gnucash-user or gnucash-devel mailing list can help ?
12:04:31 <Apfelgriebs> Thanks, I will try that. Damn, I was really happy to see the news about a major release, I'm spoiled by all the software maintained in some PPA.

14:23:03 <jralls> warlord: Looks like we're stalled out on getting access to the Gnome BZ data.
14:23:16 <warlord> jralls: Yeah, I have not seen any responses.
14:26:00 <gjanssens> jralls: I'm back only today for some urgent issues I had to attend to. I'll be leaving again this evening still
14:26:19 <gjanssens> I'm seriously behind on the mail avalanche of the last couple of days :(
14:26:42 <jralls> gjanssens: Well, thanks for dropping in. Yeah, I'm having trouble keeping up with it and getting anything else done.
14:26:51 *** frakturfreak has joined #gnucash
14:27:45 <gjanssens> As I mentioned earlier to chris changing the posted test from valid posted date to valid posted account was probably a mistake.
14:30:30 <jralls> I see that. We picked that because postedAccount was used in some places, postedDate in others. postedAccount seemed to offer better consistency.
14:31:05 <chris> funny- i can post/unpost an invoice using the toolbar button on unstable and invoice.scm seems to detect it correctly
14:31:54 <chris> I'll try to give debug https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=794767 remotely over next few days, while coming to an end to my holiday :)
14:31:55 <gjanssens> chris: I don't know the exact details any more and as I said earlier I don't have time available right now to chase this.
14:32:38 <gjanssens> At least we have lots of testers now. As usual just a little bit too late :)
14:33:28 <chris> perhaps we're like windows 3.0 or XP; the SP1 will be better :)
14:33:54 <gjanssens> Yes, it typically is...
14:34:19 <gjanssens> I expect this to gradually improve as be complete the unit test coverage.
14:34:43 <gjanssens> Though I'm also guilty of not completing that bit for the csv importer.

14:35:28 <chris> I'll be leaving MUR in 2 days which explains some of my bug reports about that currency ^_^
14:35:30 <jralls> For some of it. A lot of the issues are in GUI code that can't be automatically tested.
14:40:39 <gjanssens> Yeah that's true, although these days there are even test frameworks for gui's
14:41:19 <gjanssens> Never looked at one though so I have no idea of their capabilities/limitations.
14:41:21 <warlord> gjanssens, chris -- why not use Posted Transaction?
14:42:03 <gjanssens> warlord: that's an interesting alternative which should be solid

17:06:14 <jralls> arahael: codesmythe sent the answer to the dev list: You're using an in-tree builddir and saying `cmake <options> ../gnucash`, which starts off with the CMakeLists.txt in the gnucash subdirectory. You need to say `cmake <options> ..`.

18:59:56 *** Robert847 has quit IRC
19:22:41 <jralls> arahael: OK, I can see how that's ambiguous. It means for you to create gnucash-build in the source dir's parent, but the readme is in a subdirectory of that.
19:24:38 <jralls> arahael: So "cd .. # back to the workdir" could be understood to mean back to CMAKE_SOURCE_DIR.
19:31:51 <arahael> jralls: it from memory eventually says to do cmake ../gnucash, after having just setup gnucash_build. anyway, i will check that out.
19:32:16 <jralls> arahael: I'll make it clearer.
19:33:30 <arahael> jralls: sweet. :) been very impressed so far with the project, from a software engineering point of view.
19:36:12 *** josephcocoa has joined #gnucash
19:49:08 <arahael> jralls: That works - now fails due to a missing dependency - as expected (I haven't set up all the dependencies yet - missing gtkwebkit)
19:49:37 <arahael> Which should be fairly simple for me to fix up, I expect.
19:51:31 <arahael> It's a real pity that c++ still doesn't have a portable package manager. :(
19:53:48 <jralls> arahael: If you're building on Mac for your own use the easiest way to get all of the dependencies is to use MacPorts--as long as you don't mind that it shoves itself into your environment by mucking with a bunch of paths. A somewhat more complicated but ultimately cleaner way is documented at https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/MacOSX/Quartz.
19:54:04 <arahael> jralls: I'm a brew user, I'm afraid.
19:54:18 <arahael> jralls: I already have quartz
19:54:30 <arahael> I'll check that out, at least. :)
19:54:55 <jralls> Brew just installs my dmg, as you've probably already discovered. Of course you already have Quartz. It's part of MacOS.
19:55:30 <jralls> Anyway, the fixed-up README_CMAKE is pushed, and I've got to go make dinner.
19:55:44 <arahael> Sorry, coffee hasn't kicked in yet... Was somehow thining of xquartz. Enjoy your dinner!

This happened after I tried to create a tax report and the program stopped responding. I force closed the program and when it gave me this message, rebooted the computer. Still got the message after the reboot. Is it alright to open the database?
