04:43:28 <chris> jralls are you here? i've got everything set up to replace jqplot with chartjs, and I've resurrected urls. BIG problem. it seems gnucash will intercept webkit's <a href=url> calls to display account or report according to url. but I don't know how to access this intercept from javascript.
04:44:24 <chris> in other words, i can do <a href=urls>text</a> in report to do jumps, but i wish to use javascript instead to intercept clicks and navigate to report or account register.
04:44:56 <chris> I have to say, using the <a href> interface makes reports soo clever
04:46:53 <chris> see the console error when trying to redirect http://i.imgur.com/E8z00eq.png
05:21:42 <chris> Update: I can actually fake it by enclosing the whole canvas within the <a href> and modifying the href dynamically but this is not ideal

06:41:16 <jotrago> After the first 7 years running my one man business on GC, and learning along the way, I decided it was time to clean house and start a clean fresh book. With the help of my auditor I have just completed a Close Books, Exported the accounts, copied the balances across, and I am now ready to go.
06:41:47 *** Jimraehl1 has joined #gnucash
06:43:21 <jotrago> In the process we had one small issue. Running the close book on 28 Feb did not completely Zero some of the Income & Expense accounts. We discovered that any register entris on 28 Feb with data in the NUM column were not included. Is this the expected behaviour? Since I had not processed any transactions after 28 Feb, we re-ran the close on 1 Mar and all was well.
06:43:38 *** Jimraehl1 has left #gnucash
07:08:23 <chris> jotrago - I'm not sure this is intentional, perhaps try isolate the buggy behaviour and file in bugzilla?

10:54:40 <Robert> I am currently trying to find the check settings files in Windows for recent 2.6.xx releases and eventually for 3.0 releases. The do not seem to be in [username]\.gnucash with other stuff. Where should i look?
10:55:28 <warlord> Robert: the default check formats? Or personal checks?
10:55:44 <Robert> both
10:56:42 <warlord> Default check formats are in the system folder with the application data.
10:56:56 <warlord> Personal check formats that you create can be stored in your user data.
10:58:28 <Robert> it seems that the current check print settings are in the registry. Where are you referring by system folder
10:59:27 <warlord> No, that's a THIRD option.
10:59:44 <warlord> You can create your own foo.chk format files
10:59:56 <warlord> (to create a new format for the list)
11:00:43 <Robert> I am definitely lost. The [username]\.gnucash\checks folder is empty
11:00:59 <warlord> Robert: because you haven't put anything in there.
11:01:48 <warlord> That directory is there for you to put your personal foo.chk format files.
11:02:15 <Robert> ok, but when I tested the check printing feature the program found several default format files but I ccannot find them on my own
11:02:39 <warlord> Those are *.chk files stored in the gnucash installation data directory.
11:03:22 <Robert> ok, where is that on my Windows 7 computer?
11:03:39 <warlord> No clue. I don't do windows.
11:04:07 <warlord> on my Linux box it's in /usr/shared/gnucash/checks/
11:04:26 <Robert> :-}
11:04:56 <warlord> er, /usr/share not shared
11:05:12 *** fabior has joined #gnucash
11:09:20 <Robert> I was wondering out of curiosity 1. if any of the default check printing files had changed in the last several years and 2. how to decide which of the defaults is the one I need for whichever check stock I bought last time.
11:09:58 <Robert> or next time
11:13:13 <Robert> I suppose the Windows control panel uninstall programs feature knows where the install directory is and it is probably one of the obfuscated folders somewhere under programs.
11:13:38 <Robert> really hard to find
11:15:08 *** bob_ has quit IRC
11:15:29 <Robert> I don't have time to try to find it today. Thanks anyway
11:16:00 <warlord> It's somewhere in the gnucash program files hierarchy
11:16:36 <warlord> As for knowing which format to use -- you could try printing to a blank piece of paper and comparing it to your checks?
11:17:59 *** fabior has quit IRC
11:18:02 <Robert> I do that anyway just before I really print. Last ime was a few years ago, but I want to do it again
11:18:58 <Robert> I still have the printer with the MICR cartridge
11:20:08 <warlord> Unfortunately if you dont remember you'll have to test it.
11:20:24 <warlord> I'll be right back..
11:20:42 <Robert> I don't remember if Gnucash puts the amount in the MICR line
11:21:01 <warlord> I dont recall.
11:21:10 <warlord> Test it on a different printer?
11:21:33 <Robert> Again, thanks
11:22:19 <warlord> You're welcome.

12:49:25 <jralls> Robert: The default installation of GnuCash isn't at all obfuscated. It's C:\Program Files (x86)\gnucash, under which you'll find a unix-style directory layout with directories bin, lib, etc, and share. The only thing different from Unix is that the shared libraries (i.e. *.dll) are in bin instead of lib.
12:51:50 <jralls> Robert: You can see what's changed in the check templates over the years at https://github.com/Gnucash/gnucash/commits/maint/checks... That shows the 'maint' branch. The history visible on the unstable (GC 2.7.x) branch is short because of the directory rearrangement, but there also haven't been any significant changes there.
12:53:09 <jralls> chris: Sorry, I don't know Javascript well enough to answer the question.
12:53:30 <chris> ok it seems to be a webkit issue
12:53:54 <chris> I'll push for your perusal anyway - have fun experimenting and discovering what the wizards created so long ago
12:55:15 <jralls> chris: I think we should let the jqplot replacement wait until 3.1. There are some critical bugs that I'm working on and I want to do a "release candidate" as soon as they're done and 3.0 a week after that. Weekly beta releases as I progress.
12:55:16 <chris> off to bed :)
12:55:27 <chris> of course
12:55:54 <jralls> chris: Good night!
12:56:04 <chris> PR is for tasting :)

16:56:39 <jralls> lmat: Found it. The issue was that the SQL backend was extracting only the part of the key after the "/"--the account guid--so there was no "import-map-bayes" prefix.
