09:05:57 <warlord> chris: Define "more fun than..."?
09:06:30 <chris> it has more consistent API than jqplot, requires fewer callbacks to be responsive
09:07:03 <warlord> Hmm. Ok. Is it supported, and likely to remain supported?
09:08:42 <chris> see https://blog.sicara.com/compare-best-javascript-chart-libraries-2017-89fbe8cb112d it's got the most github activity among the MIT-free JS chartkits
09:15:37 <warlord> ok
09:17:42 <chris> I think this is a nice demo https://pste.eu/p/rYnG.html

09:33:10 <chris> it'll be a shock to users, for sure

10:17:00 <chris> jqplot doesn't have antialiasing, and html-charts.scm has some redraw 100ms after resizing. these will be lost.

12:13:17 <jralls> warlord: Does that mean that bcc-ing gnucash-announce on release announcements won't need to be blessed through anymore? If so you might do the same on gnucash-devel.
12:16:25 <jralls> warlord: Hmm, it occurs to me that on beta releases perhaps the primary "To" and "Reply To" should be gnucash-devel instead of gnucash-user.
12:16:41 <warlord> You can assign the Reply-To
12:19:15 <jralls> I do. I've been setting it to gnucash-user. I suspect it doesn't really do that much because list users are trained to always reply-all. I shared the musing because if I announce 2.7.7 primarily to gnucash-devel then it would bcc gnucash-users.

12:29:52 <jralls> Bcc'ing seems to work. I don't remember who suggested it, but I started doing it about 4 years ago (based on the wiki page history). It does have the downside of requiring moderation into the bcc'd lists.

16:40:29 <Guest62703> Hello, I'm new to GnuCash and evaluating it to be included in a project I'm working on. I didn't manage to debug the project (only to build it for release).
16:41:00 <Guest62703> I'm using Ubuntu
16:41:36 <Guest62703> Can anyone help me with that ?
16:41:58 <jralls> Help you with what?
16:42:36 <Guest62703> Being able to debug the project
16:43:25 <jralls> What project? GnuCash or the one you're working on?
16:43:38 <Guest62703> GnuCash
16:44:13 <jralls> OK. Is the problem that you don't know how to make a debug build?
16:44:26 <Guest62703> yes
16:44:30 <jralls> Oh, and what version of GnuCash?
16:44:52 <Guest62703> 2.6.19
16:46:18 <Guest62703> I tried with gnucash-2.6.19.tar.gz
16:46:52 <jralls> If you're using Autotools, pass --enable-debug to configure. If cmake, -D CMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Debug in the cmake args.
16:48:05 <Guest62703> OK, What IDE you use ?
16:48:15 <jralls> emacs.
16:48:59 <Guest62703> OK, thanks, I'll try

17:00:35 <jralls> How does one make an evil grin as ant emoticon?
17:00:40 <warlord> LOL
17:00:46 <finster> yes, probably. i was half joking
17:00:48 <finster> *eg*
17:01:48 <jralls> Too much like "exempla gratia".

17:16:17 <jralls> lmat: 2.7.6 can't read my nested import-map-bayes slots.
17:16:51 <lmat> jralls: hmm. XML I take it?
17:16:59 <jralls> Sorry, no SQL.
17:17:05 <lmat> ah
17:17:43 <lmat> Is it easy to reproduce?
17:21:07 <jralls> Not sure, for what value of reproduce? Anyway, I think I see the problem: The converted entries are of the form import-map-bayes/key/guid.
17:24:09 <lmat> jralls: Right. import-map-bayes and guid are known lengths, so the rest is "key".
17:24:34 <lmat> I'm heading home now, but I'll catch up tomorrow.
17:25:47 <jralls> OK. Habitat for me tomorrow. I made two new associations in the db. Bob's editor sees only those two. I'll try to figure out what's different about them.
17:27:26 <jralls> Oh, that's easy: The new ones aren't getting saved as bayes, they're whole-strings.
17:29:00 <finster> how would i go about re-training gnucash? most transactions i get in via HBCI won't map to proper accounts, despite already existing similar transactions. gnucash 2.6.19
17:30:13 <jralls> finster: In 2.7.x/3.0 there's a new import-map editor. Otherwise you have to edit your data file or database.
17:31:15 <finster> jralls: that sounds promising!
17:32:41 *** fabior has joined #gnucash
17:33:04 <finster> would you mind sharing details about planned releases of either of the above?
17:36:06 <jralls> Well, we just released 2.7.6 yesterday. 2.7.7 is planned for next weekend and I still hope to get 3.0 out the weekend after but that depends on getting a few bugs sorted out, including what I just told lmat about.
17:36:59 <finster> oh, neat. the gnucash.org site mentions 2.6.19, so i missed it out
17:37:39 <finster> the front page, at least. the download page has the dev version, of course
17:38:11 <jralls> The alpha/beta releases are on the news page. We don't put the d/l links on the front page because we don't want people to get one by mistake.
17:38:28 <finster> sure
17:41:59 <finster> i think i'll give 2.7.6 a shot. hopefully it doesn't break my files
17:44:49 <jralls> Make a copy so that if it does you can easily go back.
17:45:49 <finster> sure. usual procedures. but i think the test is already over, as i can't open my custom created reports (double-click on an entry won't open the report)
17:47:31 *** frakturfreak has quit IRC
17:47:39 <jralls> Are those custom-created as in saved configs or as in coded in scheme?
17:47:58 <finster> the former
17:49:11 <finster> well, they're stored as lisp-like format under ~/Library/Application Support/Gnucash/saved-reports-2.4
