09:55:39 <darshan> hi
09:55:52 <darshan> i have a problem
09:56:01 <darshan> can anyone help
09:56:05 <darshan> Please
09:56:45 <gjanssens> I'll be afk starting this evening 18.30 CET until Tuesday. Feel free to apply my patch if you're happy with it or tweak it some more or whatever. Or wait until Tuesday for more discussion if that's required :)
09:56:54 <gjanssens> darshan: see topic
09:57:17 <gjanssens> Just ask your question
09:58:57 *** gjanssens is now known as gjanssens_afk
10:01:49 <darshan> I have setup a basic investment account tree to track my investments in various assets. Some of the are mutual funds and i wanted to get price quotes daily. For such a function i have added an account in Tools-> security editor consequent to which i approached the 'get quote' function in tools->price editor
10:02:20 <darshan> but the result comes as couldn't find quote
10:03:31 <darshan> FYI i have added Finance::quote pearl module as mentioned on the website
10:05:51 <darshan> i have followed steps as mentioned in http://www.askmeaboutlinux.com/?p=1726 website.
10:07:31 <darshan> $gnc-fq-dump -v indiamutual INF200K01SJ9
10:07:32 <darshan> Finance::Quote fields Gnucash uses:
10:07:32 <darshan> symbol: INF200K01SJ9 (deduced) <=== required

10:07:37 <darshan> INF200K01SJ9 success: 0
10:08:32 <darshan> the INF200K01SJ9 is the script for which i want my quotes
10:09:05 <darshan> the above command was run in terminal
10:10:32 <darshan> also please look into this https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2364053 . the process mentioned has been duly followed.
10:13:41 <lmat> darshan: It's difficult to get free stock quotes these days.
10:16:58 *** oozer has joined #gnucash
10:17:20 <darshan> actually it is a mutual fund. Association of mutual fund of India, under which my script is registered, maintains a public registry of latest NAV. Anyone can access it.
10:18:39 <darshan> it is registerd as a .txt file
10:36:42 *** gjanssens_afk is now known as gjanssens
10:37:06 <gjanssens> darshan: F::Q returns errormsg: HTTP failure
10:37:44 <gjanssens> which means IMO it can't connect to the online quote source for indiamutual

10:39:40 <darshan> https://www.amfiindia.com/spages/NAVAll.txt
10:40:00 <gjanssens> Sure, but you're not Finance::Quote :)
10:41:46 <gjanssens> Note by the way the link you pass here is https, while the link on the ubuntuforums thread is http
10:42:34 <gjanssens> It looks like amfiindia has set up a redirect from http->https.
10:42:45 <gjanssens> I don't know if F::Q will automatically follow that.
10:43:25 *** harshitaneja has quit IRC
10:44:08 *** harshitaneja has joined #gnucash
10:45:59 <gjanssens> You can try setting this https explicitly in your F::Q source file. Also doublecheck you didn't add a typo. It's a nasty name NAVAll (with two el characters) or NAVAII (two ai characters)
10:49:58 <gjanssens> darshan: Just tried it myself... When I copy the url from the ubuntu forum into IndiaMutual.pm it works
10:50:17 <gjanssens> So it looks like you either made a typing mistake or you have altered the wrong file

11:14:15 <darshan> i rechecked but no avail. i am observing the same problem, interestingly gnc-fq-dump returns the same error when i enter some other websites and their scripts
11:19:49 <gjanssens> darshan: I'm afraid I have no other clues. It looks like your setup is not correct, but I don't know enough of F::Q to help you debug that.
11:20:17 <gjanssens> Perhaps you can check the F::Q forums ?

15:44:35 <christopher`> Hi, I need custom check layout print but it is pretty similiar to Voucher Check 3-Part US-Letter
15:44:47 <christopher`> where in filesystem can I find the file containing those numbers?
15:44:58 <christopher`> I am on Debian Stretch, GnuCash 2.6.15
15:45:30 <christopher`> oop think I just found it

15:55:11 <jralls> christopher: Did you see the "custom" tab on the print-check dialog box?
16:03:37 <christopher`> jralls: insufficient. does not allow items to appear multiple times on page
16:03:55 <christopher`> am making my own using emacs
16:05:39 <jralls> OK.
16:12:43 <christopher`> i don't think any of the built-in 3 part check formats could be made with the custom tab
16:12:54 <christopher`> leastways in 2.6.15

16:17:43 <jralls> TBH I've never tried. Check printing is one of those dusty corners that seems to mostly work for the few people who want it and which doesn't get a lot of attention.

18:12:19 <josephcocoa> Hello everyone!
18:13:03 <josephcocoa> So I'm running on Solus, and I noticed that GNUCash isn't in the repos for it. Speaking with the Solus devs, they say it is due to some dependancies that are quite old.
18:13:09 <josephcocoa> Is anyone here familiar with that issue?

19:18:48 <josephcocoa> The reason I ask is that I'd like to help with that effort
19:19:09 <josephcocoa> I'm not a dev, at least, not comfortable trying to fix it myself, but I can donate a bit to the project or to someone, to help make that happen
19:34:01 <luc14n0> josephcocoa: you could take a look at the gnucash's dependency and check their version too see how old is it, the unstable gnucash would be the preferred one to use as reference since it will be the next stable in a couple of months.
19:36:11 <luc14n0> what dependencies you can see here: https://github.com/Gnucash/gnucash/blob/fb7426b60b6c7c10842e070db7658874e2dabdec/README.dependencies#L61
20:07:48 <jralls> josephcocoa: It's probably got to do with libgnomecanvas and libwebkit1. Both of those have been replaced for the upcoming GnuCash 3.0.
20:14:02 <josephcocoa> awesome
20:14:07 <josephcocoa> so we'll likely be good
