01:12:47 <johnnynyquist> Hiya- trying to install 2.7.2 development build from source on arch to avoid the webkitgtk2 hell I saw in AUR; configure script tells me I don't have guile 2.0 or guile 1.8- because I have guile 2.2.2-1! is this a configure bug?

02:17:08 <caleb> Hello, how do you record start up capital effectively when receiving cash defaults to AR? Or receiving cash for another purpose besides AR related things?
02:24:07 <caleb> And in invoicing I am stuck to using income accounts only. Is there a way to change this?

03:45:18 <gncbot> gjanssens: Sent 1 day, 7 hours, and 9 minutes ago: <jralls> The commit I just pushed also removes most of the specialness of the backend modules when building with CMake.
03:45:19 <gncbot> gjanssens: Sent 1 day, 6 hours, and 14 minutes ago: <chris> cool thanks. I'll do the git work in another branch over next couple weeks and will PR when ready. The existing branch will continue receive experiments and refinements. Hopefully when all done the new branch commits can be individually applied to add additional features. cross fingers :)

03:46:53 <gjanssens> jralls: I saw that. Good work!
03:47:11 <gjanssens> chris: good luck!
03:53:45 <johnnynyquist> gjanssens: can you weigh in on my ./configure question? to wit: does guile-2.2.2 satisfy config requirement? because it's not passing
03:58:09 <gjanssens> johnnynyquist: no, gnucash can't work yet with guile-2.2.2
03:58:18 <gjanssens> There are two issues:
03:58:48 <gjanssens> 1. gnucash is still using guile commands that have been deprecated in 2.0 and removed in 2.2
04:00:36 <gjanssens> 2. the guile bindings are generated by a program called swig. currently swig also creates code that uses guile commands that have been removed from guile 2
04:00:52 <gjanssens> Both will have to be fixed before gnucash can work with guile 2.2
04:03:04 <johnnynyquist> ok got it

12:13:43 <jralls> fell: Do you know how the Google+ linkage works or even what credentials are associated with the account?
12:14:10 <jralls> lmat: I don't really have anything to add to what gjanssens suggested on your talk page.
12:17:40 <jralls> lmat: You said that you were trying to run GnuCash in an IDE from the build directory. I was trying to explain that my last push makes that work but that you may need to set GNC_UNISTALLED and GNC_BUILDDIR in the environment if you set the install prefix to /usr, /usr/local/, /opt, or /opt/*.

15:52:33 <gjanssens> jralls: I thought I got it but your message to lmat in which you explain the requirement to set GNC_UNISTALLED and GNC_BUILDDIR when the install prefix is /usr, /usr/local/, /opt, or /opt/* confuses me. I thought both environment variables had to be set anyway when you wish to run from the build dir ?
15:55:17 <jralls> gjanssens: Binreloc now works in the builddir so if you don't do something that disables it (like use one of those install directories) then it takes care of finding the libraries relative to the executable. It won't work on MacOS because of the rpaths, but it should work everywhere else.
15:56:46 <gjanssens> jralls: oh, that explains it. Nice!
15:57:26 * gjanssens has never dug into rpaths so he hardly knows what they're used for or how they work...
15:57:27 <jralls> gjanssens: Actually it might work on MacOS too. CMake knows about Mac's rpaths and changes them during install so they might be right during build.
15:59:42 <gjanssens> A glaring hole in my CS degree :D One I choose to leave as is for now...
16:01:00 <jralls> OK. It's not that hard, but one must use custom linker flags to turn it on in most OSes so it's safe to ignore except on MacOS.

23:18:07 <CDB-Away> hmm, it looks like the subaccount renumbering feature doesnt work properly re leading zeros
23:18:46 <CDB-Away> for example, if my accout is 01-10-X, and I have X = 1 through 10, it does not add leading zeros to the 1 thru 9
23:19:20 <CDB-Away> when I add an 11th account and go to renumber, it orders them as 1,10,11,2,3,4 ... 9 --- rather than 1,2,3,...9,10,11
23:19:24 <CDB-Away> due to lack of leading zeros
