00:00:04 *** Stroller has joined #gnucash
00:09:26 <Stroller> Hello. I'm very new. I've set up my Barclays Bank account in GnuCash and imported some transactions, assigning most of them to the relevant expense accounts (medical, groceries etc). I now realise that I setup the bank account as Type "Asset" instead of "Bank" and I can't see how to change it.
00:09:26 <Stroller> I can create a new GnuCash account of the right type (called "Barclays Bank 2" and I was going to rename it after I've moved the transactions), but I find I can't move the transactions, either. If I try to delete the original Barclays Bank account GnuCash allows me to move the transactions to another account of the Asset type, but not to the new "Barclays Bank" (presumably because it's a bank account, and not an asset account)
00:09:46 <Stroller> Can anyone help, please?

14:56:59 <leolein> Hello. How can I permanently accept a new certificate from the bank?
14:58:01 <jralls> leolein: I suppose you mean in AQBanking. I don't know that you can; I've never tried.
14:58:49 *** JayJay has joined #gnucash
15:04:13 <leolein> jralls: Sorry, yes in AQBanking. I've been using gnucash for a couple of years. Once upon a time you only had to accept a new certificate once. At least in the past, I didn't have to accept it every time. It's been annoying to me for a few months now that I have to accept it again and again.
15:06:16 <JayJay> Hey, why are my gnucash accounts on the account page including future transactions? I asked this before but didn't really get a response. Example my current account is £100. I have a income of £500 scheduled for next week but my current account (and profits and net assets in the status bar) show that I have £600 even though I don't as of today
15:06:27 <jralls> leolein: OK, I guess I have a higher tolerance for extra clicks.

15:08:15 <jralls> JayJay: Because whoever wrote the summary code didn't make it check "as of today", it just adds up all of the splits.
15:09:13 <leolein> Accept a certificate twice for each account request and enter the PIN three times. If you have several accounts, these are already some entries.
15:09:47 *** JayJay has joined #gnucash
15:10:09 <jralls> @tell JayJay If you want your questions answered stick around long enough for someone to type a response! Because whoever wrote the summary code didn't make it check "as of today", it just adds up all of the splits.
15:10:09 <gncbot> jralls: The operation succeeded.
15:11:31 <jralls> leolein: You can save the PIN, there's a checkbox on the dialog. But I get asked to verify certificates and PINs only once each per request.
15:12:33 <jralls> And by request I mean for each time I select Actions>Online Banking>Get Transactions.
15:14:07 <leolein> By "per request" we mean the same thing.
15:14:12 <JayJay> jralls: Sorry! I was online until about 12am the day I asked. I logged back in 5pm after work the next day but the conversation history didnt show up. Anyway thanks for your reply! Really appreciate it. So safe to say there's no way around it? Maybe a future update? Or is it just the way it is?
15:14:13 <gncbot> JayJay: Sent 4 minutes ago: <jralls> If you want your questions answered stick around long enough for someone to type a response! Because whoever wrote the summary code didn't make it check as of today , it just adds up all of the splits.
15:15:40 <warlord> JayJay: I do believe there is a Present Value column you can display
15:15:52 <leolein> Am I getting this right? If there is an option or a configuration for this, then not in gnucash but in aqbanking?
15:17:46 <JayJay> warlord: That's it! Thanks so much
15:18:28 <jralls> leolein: If there is such an option it would be in AQBanking. It's not exposed in the GnuCash interface.
15:19:49 <leolein> jralls: thank you.
15:23:16 <jralls> JayJay: You can generally see the IRC logs at http://code.gnucash.org/logs, though that system has been having some connectivity problems lately and so there are some gaps.
15:24:07 <leolein> gnucash is a really good software - I like it. have a good time. goodbye

15:31:26 <JayJay> jralls: Just had a look. Ill keep that in mind for next time. Thanks guy. im loving gnucash and trying to get my years-of-using-excel brother to convert :P
