08:13:11 <lmat> It sure is nice to have a character that isn't allowed in slot names. If we want to allow "/", perhaps we could take a different delimiter? Allowing any character in slot names makes it impossible to parse a kvp_frame path from a string. It means that viewing the entire path as a string is a lossy operation. Sure it's possible, just inconvenient, especially since we can't create std::vectors in C code.

12:59:54 <jralls> lmat: IMO the correct separator is ASCII 0x1E (record separator) or 0x1f (unit separator). Setting up backwards compatibility with '/' will be the hard part. Too bad that whoever wrote the original code didn't really understand serialization well enough to do it right.
12:59:54 <gncbot> jralls: Sent 20 hours and 4 minutes ago: <lmat> commit 5425577 (line 1503 of the diff) changes value = kvp_frame_get_slot_path(imap->frame, IMAP_FRAME_BAYES, (char*)current_token->data,... to kvp_path = g_strdup_printf (IMAP_FRAME_BAYES /%s/%s", (char*)current_token->data,..."
12:59:55 <gncbot> jralls: Sent 19 hours and 34 minutes ago: <lmat> The declaration of change_imap_entry also takes a char * and assumes it can be parsed properly in the face of slashes.
12:59:56 <gncbot> jralls: Sent 19 hours and 34 minutes ago: <lmat> I'm just writing down my notes here...if you have any good ideas, they're more than welcome, otherwise no response necessary.
13:04:43 <jralls> lmat: re; 5425577, the commit comment excluded handling imap_bayes because it was too closely coupled to the KVP implementation. 43e93e5f was, IIRC, the commit that refactored imap to use KVP more indirectly.
