02:30:45 <Asif> Hi. Good Morning
02:31:40 <Asif> Is there any way to find our last transaction created & date of that transaction in Gnucash??

06:33:08 <Asif> Is there any way to find our last transaction created & date of that transaction in Gnucash??
06:33:27 <Asif> Hello... Anyone here??
06:33:47 <Asif> :'(
06:34:06 <Mechtilde> did you look into the account?
06:40:56 <Asif> Where?
06:42:50 <Asif> Its easy to find it in Account... But, I am saying if I dont know which account I have updated last and If I want to find out in all accounts (large number) if I want to know which was my last transaction then how I can find that??
06:46:58 *** mlncn has joined #gnucash
06:51:00 <gjanssens> Asif: I don't understand your use case really. However perhaps the Find... option in the Edit menu may offer some possibilities.
06:51:14 <gjanssens> You will need to know some more details about your transaction though
06:51:36 <gjanssens> Perhaps part of the description, or an idea about the amount
06:52:17 <gjanssens> To my knowledge there is no direct option to search for "last entered transaction" if that is what you are looking for.
06:53:00 <gjanssens> A peculiarity about the find dialog is it behaves slightly differently when invoked from the account hierarchy instead of from an open account register.
06:53:33 <gjanssens> On the account hierarchy page it will search for transaction splits in all accounts
06:53:41 <Asif> It's simple... I want to know how can i found last transaction entered in overalll gnucash (All accounts)
06:54:12 <gjanssens> When invoked on an account register it will search only for matching splits within that account
06:54:39 <gjanssens> As I said, I don't know of a way to search for "last transaction entered"
06:55:23 <Asif> ok. Thanks
06:55:37 <gjanssens> If you tell us *why* (use case) we may find a different way to help you out
06:58:35 <Asif> Actually I update accounts from Whatsapp, my brother send me the transactions in Whatsapp and I update it in Gnucash... however some oth the time I forget my last transaction and then I dont know from where I have to start in my Whatsapp chat
07:01:23 <Aussie_matt> Mechtilde: Hi, found our drama with the mageia update build, it didn't pull in a dependency, so we'll fix that
07:05:28 <gjanssens> Asif: I've searched some more. This may be a solution for you:
07:05:47 <gjanssens> Open Tools->General Ledger
07:06:30 <gjanssens> Then Use View->Sort By... to sort on "Date Entered"
07:06:49 <gjanssens> At that point your last entered transaction should also be the last one in the list.
07:07:31 <gjanssens> One caveat: the General Ledger by default only displays on month worth of data.
07:07:50 *** fabior has quit IRC
07:07:51 <gjanssens> So if your last transaction is older than one month it will not be displayed by default
07:08:14 <gjanssens> To circumvent this, you can change the filter under View->Filter by... to show all transactions
07:08:34 <gjanssens> Aussie_matt: good to hear. Which dependency was missing ?
07:09:22 <Aussie_matt> i'd have to look it up, but i think libgnucash??? we didn't specify the version, so it didn't pull in the newer version
07:11:04 <gjanssens> Interesting. I didn't know there were distro's separating the gnucash binary from it's libraries still.
07:11:10 <gjanssens> Fedora doesn't at least.
07:12:01 <gjanssens> But either are fine of course as long as all packages get updated together :)
07:12:03 <Asif> Thanks gjanssens... this will work.

12:10:35 <vantage> Hi, I have an investment account with wealthsimple.com and I'm wondering how best to track it in gnucash. Unlike my index funds which show me how many shares purchased at what value, wealthsimple shows me each stock they've invested in on my behalf. Do I just enter each of these as stocks? How does that take into consideration their fees? Should there be some wealthsimple umbrella created with the stocks underneath?
