05:38:38 <weasel> hm.
05:39:04 <weasel> on 2.6.15, when I charge a transaction to an account that doesn't exist yet,
05:39:12 <weasel> I get asked if I want to create it. twice.
05:39:25 <weasel> and if I say yes to both, I get two new-account dialogs, one after the other.
05:39:28 <weasel> and of course the second one fails.

06:22:45 <gjanssens> The fix is part of gnucash 2.6.16
06:23:31 <weasel> thanks
06:24:03 <weasel> is the patch well contained?
06:24:18 <weasel> if so, I might prod the debian maintainer to include it in the upcoming debian stable

09:08:48 <gjanssens> Don't know how your deb maintainer thinks about this though...
09:09:46 <weasel> one way to find out

10:19:10 <Aussie_matt> gjanssens: hi...well, guess what? gnucash is missing a maintainer in mageia :(
10:36:31 <gjanssens> Aussie_matt: that sucks :(
10:38:12 <Aussie_matt> gjanssens: just looking into whats involved to package it myself
10:43:22 <gjanssens> I believe there are no dependency changes between 2.6.5 and 2.6.16 so you could start from the 2.6.5 src rpm package and work from there (update version number and tar ball)
10:44:03 <gjanssens> Aussie_matt: I have no idea if mageia also carries around mageia specific patches (your spec file should reveal that)
10:44:32 <Aussie_matt> gjanssens: we follow fedora alot
10:44:33 <gjanssens> If so, you may need to check if they are still relevant. Perhaps they were for bugs that have been fixed in the meantime
10:46:12 * gjanssens used to me a mandrake/mandriva user, but eventually switched to Fedora
10:46:25 <gjanssens> That was long before the mageia project saw the light
10:50:12 <Luke> anyone of you managed to setup for VAT return ?
10:50:13 <Aussie_matt> gjanssens: mandrake was gold wasn't it. Ironically alot of fedora/RH stuff is being pulled into mageia, DNF, the MCC is becoming a maintanance nightmare, so alot of tools are being imported 'into' mcc etc
10:54:50 <gjanssens> Aussie_matt: what's mageia's target audience ? What sets it apart from the competition ?
10:56:56 <Aussie_matt> gjanssens: the big thing is it's independance financially, we don't have a RH or Canonical calling the shots, which is good, but also bad as we lack man power. Alot of the dev's are old mandrake employees, who just work on mageia for their own work/needs. Target audience? easy to admistrate, with all the complex tools if needed... does that help?
10:57:50 <gjanssens> Aussie_matt: well, I asked mostly out of curiosity
10:58:26 <gjanssens> It's courageous to go without corporate funding and comes with its challenges
10:59:22 <gjanssens> We even see this in gnucash, which is much smaller in scale :)
10:59:59 <Aussie_matt> gjanssens: funding is interesting, as there's plenty of cash in mageia's kitty, but there's only so much hardware they need.. it's man power
11:02:51 <gjanssens> Ditto for gnucash... and I meant 'funding' in a broad sense. RH also 'funds' fedora by employing people to work on it full/part-time in that sense. Perhaps "backs up" would have been a better way to describe it.
11:04:58 <Aussie_matt> open source world fascinates me. RH and SUSE are amazing companies, they blow my mind... Canonical, who knows whats going on there, I never did get ubuntu
11:05:38 <Aussie_matt> gjanssens: what language is gnucash written in? just writting and email to the mageia devs, hoping for a mentor
11:07:32 <gjanssens> Aussie_matt: currently a mix of primarily C and guile (scheme). For the future we're working on a port to C++, in which the guile part should be dramatically reduced.
11:07:54 <gjanssens> The 2.8 release planned towards the end of the year will be the first one to have several parts in c++
11:10:37 <Aussie_matt> right... although I would think packaging would be more script/dependency based for patching... could be wrong
11:10:37 <gjanssens> If you know people interested in giving this conversion a boost, please do send them our way :D
11:10:37 <gjanssens> yes, packaging is mostly about defining the right dependencies
11:10:37 <gjanssens> If mageia closely follows fedora this shouldn't be too hard (or so I'd hope)
11:11:34 <Aussie_matt> well, email sent, lets see what happens
11:12:11 <gjanssens> tx for pushing for gnucash on mageia
11:13:38 <Aussie_matt> gjanssens: it's only an idea ATM... I really miss messing around with programing etc
11:15:55 <Aussie_matt> gjanssens: well I'll be, already got a reply, one guy manually updates, says he'll mentor me!
11:19:05 <Aussie_matt> anyways..it's wayyyyy late here, I'm off to bed
