11:05:57 <gjanssens> jralls: I pulled your gtk3 branch today and got it to build on my F25 system after fixing one missing variable declaration in a snippet of conditionally included code
11:06:12 <gjanssens> I'm seeing the same thing: the register is not drawing properly.
11:06:55 <gjanssens> Based on the gtk warnings it looks like I'm missing some size request handling in some parts of the widget
11:07:22 <gjanssens> Will look into it as time permits. Should not be too hard to fix.
11:09:46 <gjanssens> I also see in your code we lost the ability to export to pdf for now. I presume this is because webkitgtk2 only offers a very limited print api ?
11:11:05 <gjanssens> I do consider this of lower priority so we can delay this to later if there's time left before final release

12:45:16 <gr8kodr> when entering a stock purchase, if I select a cash acct (to take the funding from) I see "Oth. Curr." and "Exch. Rate" as labels, am I supposed to record the quantity or the name of the other currency?

14:49:39 <jralls> gjanssens: Actually it makes PDFs just fine, from the WebKitGtk print dialog. It's possible but a bit painful to reimplement the direct method, but I'm not sure that it's worth the effort.

14:50:47 <jralls> gjanssesns_afk: I'm really pretty sure it's not worth the effort and we should just get rid of the extra button and menu item.
14:51:46 <jralls> pwnguin: Haven't heard any news. Warlord and linas are both travelling so there may not be any updates or progress until next week.
14:52:53 <jralls> gr8kodr: Huh? Where are you seeing this?
15:01:08 *** scottmjones has quit IRC
15:23:25 <gr8kodr> in the transaction window ... I was entering the transaction from a stock account, and when I selected a cash account for the funds transfer, the labels changed (for that row)
15:24:37 <gr8kodr> when I tried entering qty and price data, my entries disappeared and I was only able to record the final amount

17:16:54 <jralls> gr8kodr: Sorry, I'm not following you. If you're in a stock register (the best place to start a stock transaction), the columns are date, num, description, transfer, shares, price, buy, sell, and balance.
17:17:37 <jralls> gr8kodr: They don't change when you select the transfer account.
17:19:21 <jralls> gr8kodr: If you're trying to use the Transfer Dialog (Actions>Transfer...), don't. It doesn't understand non-currency commodities in the "Transfer From" side.
17:20:12 <gr8kodr> ok, maybe I worded it wrong ... the hints in the fields (grey text) changed, and the titles turned into italics and echoed the hint text - but for the bank account I was only able to enter a debit/credit amount, the other fields went blank as soon as I clicked out of them after entering data
17:22:26 <gr8kodr> I have a stock account set up for XE_USD (so I can track each lot), that account is funded by the corresponding bank account which uses USD currency ...
17:22:29 <jralls> If you're starting from a currency account enter the currency amount in the appropriate column (debit for a sale, credit for a buy). When you tab out or return the Transfer Dialog will come up with only the exchange rate enabled. Select amount and enter the number of shares.
17:23:56 <jralls> OK, you're trying to do something outside of the designed use-cases. You're on your own.
17:24:28 <gr8kodr> within the stock account, I can adjust the price to reflect the currency being transferred in (XAU,AUD,GBP, etc) ...
17:24:32 <jralls> scottmjones: Yes, the website is down. It had a hardware failure last week and linas, who maintains it, is travelling.
17:25:50 <scottmjones> Oh OK. Any estimated uptime?
17:26:42 <gr8kodr> each currency I use has it's own bank account, and that's the account I use for the given quote ... each "base" only knows it's own currency
17:26:51 <jralls> No. He had someone working on it over the weekend but that person was apparently unable to get it going. I don't know when he'll return home.
17:27:24 <scottmjones> OK I'm working around it for now. Good to know it's not just me.
17:28:13 <jralls> gr8kodr: If you can make GnuCash do what you want, great. If you can't, too bad, I'm afraid. We barely have the bandwidth to support users doing normal accounting.
17:28:51 <gr8kodr> if I can make it work, I'll write up an article on what I did :)
17:29:11 <jralls> Sounds good.
