07:42:53 <warlord> fell: I don't know how to set multiple "from" addresses. There is only one global that pretty much the whole wiki uses.
07:43:42 <warlord> API-wise, the User::sendEmail() API does allow one to set the from address, but very few calls actually use that feature, instead defaulting to the wiki-default...

15:15:13 <jralls> fell: gnucssh-foo-maint@gnome.bugs are psuedo email addresses that are set as assigned and QA by default so that they automatically get bugmail. To get the same bugmail as another email address, log in to BZ and click "Preferences" in the menu bar.
15:16:30 <jralls> fell: Then click on Email preferences. Below the table with all of the check boxes there's a section called "User Watching". Use that to add email addresses that you want to follow.
15:17:20 <fell> Thanks, jralls
15:17:52 <jralls> That seems a useful thing to add to the BZ wiki page, so I'm doing so now.
15:58:14 <jralls> fell: BTW you're also on the default CC list for several categories, though not any of the ones that gnucash-documentation-maint is.
16:17:12 <fell> jralls: and where can I see that list?
16:18:49 <fell> Ah.the product components page?

17:27:59 <kinlo> is there a way to make gnucash not automatically fill in the action/num number? When I fill in something that is already in the history, gnucash copies all data from the history item which does save typing work, but the num field should be different and now it is automatically prefilled with the wrong data for me, I'd like it to stay empty
17:59:26 <jralls> kinlo: The num field is ignored by autofill; the split's action fields are not. Unless you've set up your book after setting the "Set book option on new files to use split "action" field for "Num" field... in Preferences>General, the two are different.
18:00:20 <jralls> kinlo: If you *have* done that it's possible that there's a bug in autofill so that it still copies the contents of the split "action" fields.
18:15:50 *** mlncn has quit IRC
18:45:53 *** gnomey has quit IRC
18:46:23 <kinlo> jralls: I mean the split action fields
18:47:49 *** gnomey has joined #gnucash
18:48:03 <kinlo> what I'm trying to do: my banks assigns numbers to each transaction, so in order to be able to track them properly, I store those numbers into the action field. This needs to be the action field as a transaction between 2 banks will be 2 distinct numbers.
18:59:52 <jralls> kinlo: It needs to be a split field, you could also use the memo field. Regardless, autofill copies the whole split. There's no way at present to configure it.
19:03:27 <kinlo> so it can't be done, okay :)

20:07:09 <frakturfreak> kinlo: If you have an transaction between banks you might want to use an itentrim account and not just record the transaction only once
20:07:32 <frakturfreak> So you don’t have to decide which transaction number fo use
20:12:02 <kinlo> I don't really see the advantages of using an interim account. sounds like a lot of overhead with no advantage
20:15:30 <frakturfreak> Well at least were I live it’s gaap to do so
20:17:26 <frakturfreak> also for things like cash withdrawals and disposals the dates can be different for when you you actuually received the money and when the bank records the transaction
20:20:33 <kinlo> yeah, it would almost make sense to get multiple dates for a transaction
20:24:33 <frakturfreak> Plus it’s a way to check if you entered the transaction the right way and also you can’t enter the transaction twice. (I don’t know if you’re using the gl for transactions, or enter them in the specific accounts)
20:24:49 <frakturfreak> also what if you were using online banking import functions
20:25:29 *** Heisenburg has joined #gnucash
20:25:32 <kinlo> unfortunatly online banking doesn't seem like an option
20:25:53 <kinlo> most belgian banks require expensive business accounts in order to get your bank statements programatically
20:26:12 <kinlo> and even those standards aren't implemented in gnucash
20:26:58 <frakturfreak> get a german bank account hbci is implemented in gnucash and most banks offer downloads of easy to manipulate csv-files
20:27:12 <kinlo> I don't live in germany :)
20:27:50 <kinlo> also, is there an easy way to work with csv's in gnucash?
20:28:02 <frakturfreak> I don’t think you have to, EU and stuff, there are a couple of german banks just doing online business
20:29:30 <kinlo> well, not gonna switch for that reason, a bank is more then just that
20:29:47 <jralls> kinlo: There's some CSV now and our resident Belgian, gjanssens, has just merged some major improvements for 2.8.
20:29:56 <kinlo> also, I'm using it for personal finance, it's not that much work
20:30:31 <frakturfreak> I think the file\import transactions from csv
20:31:23 <frakturfreak> I haven’t really used it myself though (as long as my local bank doesn’t close its office here, which looks like it’ll hapen in july, I won’t use online banking personally)
20:40:56 <kinlo> I guess I need to wait for 2.8 then, can't get it to work with 2.6 for csv import
